382 ALLEN students shine in KVPY Aptitude Test 2016-17

Will get a 5 thousand rupees per month fellowship for UG courses and 7 thousand per month fellowship for PG courses in Basic Sciences under Central Government’s Information and Technology Department

Yet again ALLEN Students proved their leadership in the recently announced results of Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojna 2016-17 organized by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. Allen Career Institute Director

Mr. Brijesh Maheshwari said that based on the results received so far total 382 students of the institute have achieved success. 145 students from class 11 and 237 students from class 12 were successful in the first stage. Out of the total of 382 selected students, 372 are from classroom program and 10 are from the distance learning division.

Mr. Maheshwari said the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore took the KVPY aptitude test in major cities, including Jaipur on November 6 in which the 11th and 12th grade science students appeared. The students were analyzed on the basis of their holistic and scholastic aptitude. In the 2nd and final stage of Interviews, country’s leading scientists will test the student’s knowledge on basic Science and innovation. Thereafter, on the basis of 75% marks of Aptitude Test and 25% marks of Interview, the final merit list will be released.

Cut off released of all three groups

This exam is conducted for three groups of students i.e. SA, SB and SX groups. In SA group the cutoff for general category was 50 marks while for ST-SC was 40 marks. In SB group, the cut off for general category is 48 marks while that for SC-ST is 34. The general category cutoff under SX group was declared to be 57 marks while on the other hand for SC-ST category was 40 marks. Students under SA group studying in 11th grade are required to score a minimum of 80% marks in their 10th board exams. A minimum of 60% marks in 12th science are required for students under SX group and those under SB Group should have Basic Science in the first year of UG.

Fellowship for Research in Science

The KVPY fellowship is given to the selected students after clearing the interview round for studying in 12th B.Sc., BS, B.Stat, B.Math, M.Sc., MS or PhD level. A stipend of Rs 5000 per month and rs 20,000 annual contingency grant is given at the undergraduate level while a stipend of rs 7000 per month along with an annual contingency grant of Rs 28,000 is given for the M.Sc. or M.S. level.
