The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore has announced KVPY 2017 result on December 22, 2017. Kishore Viagyanik Protsahan Yojna (KVPY) is a national level fellowship programme supervised by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, in order to encourage students to take up research careers in Science, and ensure the growth of the best scientific minds for research and development in the country.
According to the Director, Sh. Brajesh Maheshwari, 551 students of Allen Career Institute have made it to the second stage of KVPY 2017. The first stage of this examination was held on November 5th & 19th .Based on the cutoff marks, students were selected for the second stage. In the first stage, students were tested on their holistic and scholastic levels. In the next stage, interview round will be conducted where a pre-selected Major Scientists of the nation will assess the students. This pre-decided panel will test the Basic Science Knowledge and Innovation among these students. This interview round is possibly to be conducted between 15th to 20th of February 2018.
The aim of the program is to identify and encourage talented and motivated students to pursue career in research. This program assist the students to realize their potential and to ensure that the best scientific talent is groomed for research and development in the country. Generous fellowship and contingency grant are provided to the selected KVPY Fellows up to the pre Ph.D. level or 5 years whichever is earlier. In addition, summer camps for the KVPY Fellows are organized in prestigious research and educational institutions in the country.
Selected students receive fellowships after their 12th for B.Sc, B. S., B.Stat, B.Math, M.Sc or MS till Pre-PhD level. The selected students get monthly Rs. 5000 as a stipend and Rs.20000 yearly and the students who will be pursuing M.Sc. and M.S. gets monthly Rs. 7000 as a stipend and Rs. 28000 yearly as a fellowship.
