The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore has announced KVPY 2018 Stage 1 result. The Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is an on-going National Program of Fellowship in Basic Sciences, initiated and funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to attract exceptionally highly motivated students for pursuing basic science courses and research career in science. The objective of the program is to identify students with talent and aptitude for research; help them realize their academic potential; encourage them to take up research careers in Science, and ensure the growth of the best scientific minds for research and development in the country.
According to the Director of ALLEN Career Institute, Sh. Brajesh Maheshwari, 601 students of ALLEN Career Institute have made it to the second stage of KVPY 2018. 508 Students are from ALLEN Classroom Programme and 93 students are from Distance Learning Programme. 274 Students from SA Stream (11th Standard) and 327 SX Stream (12th Standard) have been selected for KVPY 2018 (Stage-2). The Stage 2 exam will be held between 15 January 2019 – 20th February 2019.
The first stage of this examination was held on November 4th. The selection process for KVPY consists of two stages: Aptitude test and Personal Interview. After clearing the aptitude test i.e. by clearing the prescribed cut-offs, students are called for the personal interview, which is the second stage of the selection process.
This program aims to assist the students to realize their potential and to ensure that the best scientific talent is groomed for research and development in the country. Generous fellowship and contingency grant are provided to the selected KVPY Fellows up to the pre PhD level or 5 years whichever is earlier. In addition, summer camps for the KVPY Fellows are organized in prestigious research and educational institutions in the country.
The selected students gets Monthly Fellowship of Rs 5000 and Annual Contingency Grant of Rs.20000 during 1st to 3rd year of – B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math. / Integrated M.Sc. /M.S. While in M. Sc. / 4th to 5th year of Integrated M.Sc./M.S./M.Math./M.Stat. they receive Monthly Fellowship of Rs 7000 and Annual Contingency Grant Rs.28000.
KVPY is a two-stage process viz aptitude test and interview
Aptitude Test: After scrutiny of application forms and meeting the eligibility criteria for various streams, all eligible students are called for aptitude test conducted both in Hindi and English at different centres across the country
Interview: Based on the performance in the aptitude test, short-listed students appear for an interview which is the final stage of the selection procedure.
