The Morning Paper was Easy, the Evening Paper was Moderate.
The third day of the JEE Main April 2026 session, the country’s largest engineering entrance exam for admission to BE and BTech courses, was held on Sunday.
A detailed analysis based on the feedback received from the students revealed that the morning shift paper was overall easy, but due to the lengthy Physics and Chemistry papers, students took more time to solve the paper.
Students who had prepared from NCERT books did not face any problem in solving the paper.
Whereas, the evening shift paper was of moderate level, in which the theory of NCERT books was given priority in the given questions.
Physics
The Physics paper in the morning shift was moderate. Most of the questions were formula-based. Students didn’t face much difficulty solving it, but it did take time.
Five questions were asked from Mechanics, five from Elasticity, KTG, and Thermodynamics. Two questions each were asked from Electrodynamics, Modern Physics, and Geometrical Optics.
Three questions were covered from Magnetism and Wave Optics. One question each was asked from Semiconductors, Errors, and Gravitation. The evening shift paper was also moderate, like the morning paper.
The questions were divided keeping in mind all the chapters of the JEE Mains. 44% of the questions covered the 11th-grade syllabus and 56% from the 12th-grade syllabus.
Chemistry
The level of the Chemistry paper in the morning shift was easy, but students may have had difficulty solving the Inorganic and Organic Chemistry questions due to the statement-based options.
Students who prepared from NCERT books may have found the paper easier. The Physical Chemistry questions were easy and formula-based.
Two questions each were from Quantum Number and Electronic Configuration, Chemical Bonding, d-Block, Aromatic Compounds, Chemical Kinetics, and Ionic Equilibrium.
The evening shift paper was moderate. As in the morning, the options given in the Inorganic and Organic Chemistry answers kept students confused. Three questions each were asked from Coordination Compounds and Electrochemistry, and two questions from Aromatic Compounds.
The calculations of the questions asked in Physical Chemistry were easy.
Maths
The Maths paper was easy, and the calculations were also simple.
The questions were not too tricky, so students solved most of them easily upon seeing them. Algebra and Calculus accounted for 36% each, Coordinate Geometry and Vector 3D for 12% each, and Trigonometry for 4%.
The paper covered all the syllabus topics. The evening shift paper was moderate and lengthy, with questions similar to last year’s paper.
