Be consistent, work hard, talk to your seniors, interact with peers about the topics, and stay off social media to avoid distractions, keep a single track in mind in Kota while preparing to avoid distractions says Abhishek.
He used to get up and sleep early. He planned his daily schedule in advance, all the things that have to be read and covered, the number of hour’s lectures to be attended, which all things need to be practised and revised in a single day. On an average, he studied for 5-6 hours on weekdays and on weekend 10-14 hours.
A student should sleep for at least 7-8 hours to avoid sleep deprivation and mental breakdown. Take 2-5 minutes break in every 2 hours while studying, revise all the subjects every day. In 12th standard, you won’t be having much time to experiment and your boards are really important, so you should judiciously perfect the NCERTs prescribed by the CBSE during your boards. Focus on solving questions, previous year papers, question papers, and full-length tests based on NEET pattern, analysing your mistakes and correcting those mistakes, focussing on weaker areas and revising short notes just before NEET.
One day before the exam, relax, spend some leisure time, think about the bigger picture and don’t study at all. That would help in keeping you calm. You need to realize the essence of different phases and what you need to do in those phases.
Tests are really important. They let you know how to apply logic by yourself, how can you use what you’ve read, to help you get an essence of the main exam, to help you be in study zone, and as you will be comfortable in solving those papers, you would not face anything new in the NEET exam. In fact, the variety of questions will help you so you won’t feel there’s anything new in the NEET paper. You will be really confident and you will get enough time to solve the questions you don’t know. Also, it will be really helpful in the long run.
No matter how much you’ve prepared for the test, no matter the ranking, just analyse your marks and know your mistakes. Tests are a really important part before NEET and you should give as many as possible.
NEET, AIIMS, and JIPMER past papers analysis will tell you that 85- 90% of portion comes from NCERT and remaining part comes from outside the syllabus and you will find these questions are NCERT based but only of higher ideas and a higher level of thinking where you have to apply yourself smartly and which will eventually decide your rank.
ALLEN’s material helped me a lot since all of the extra parts came from Allen’s material and has helped me in AIIMS and JIPMER and has also been an integral part of my success, says Abhishek.
Get comfortable with Computer-Based Tests format for AIIMS so you don’t get problems with the format navigation and accessing the format so that you could give your maximum attention to the questions solving and could focus only on the direction of your questions.
During your preparation, there are a few things that can impact you. Your routine, your companionship and hard work, smart work and consistency. In the main exam, you will be competing against 10-12 lacs students. To tackle such a situation, the strategy should be to remain happy and do your best. Don’t think much about the rank, just remain happy and treat it as a normal test, be positive, be happy. As much happily you will read, as much interest and fun you will find in your studies, imply the same level of fun while giving your exam, and that will only give you your best results and enhance your output. This is the only way to deal with the tension and pressure. Everybody gets tensed but don’t let that stress get on your head, remain relaxed and calm, as anxiety will only lower your performance.
Your companionship is also important. They will influence you and your performance. Learning from oneself is smart but smarter are those who learn from others’ mistake. Choose your friends wisely.
When you will see the paper, you will notice Maximum part is NCERT based but rest comes from outside. Don’t read unnecessary things that are not required. Read-only limited things that are usually NCERT based because the things to study are endless. Read NCERTs more and more, especially for biology and inorganic chemistry, because you will be learning a new thing every time you read them.
Physics: Study from your notes and study material and try to understand the concepts. Solve as many questions, take your time, Get comfortable, apply the things and then set a time limit to solve the questions. As you know, in NEET you will be given 180 min to solve 180 questions, in AIIMs 200 mints, JIPMER 2.5 hours. So no matter how much you solve it will always be less.
Physical chemistry: same approach as physics. Do as many numerical questions. The more you’ll solve, the more comfortable you will get. Make short notes for physics and physical chemistry. Write down all the formulas at one place and revise them so that you will be able to recall those in a long time.
Chemistry: NCERT is important. Revise multiple times. Ponder over each line and understand the logic behind those
Inorganic Chemistry: Key point is that this judges your memory and your logic approach towards the question. The technique is that read the notes, read the NCERT thoroughly, get a grip on the subject and topics and solve as many questions from previous year papers or some good books.
Biology: NCERT is of immense importance, read it as many times. Read each line and understand the logic behind those. Discuss the topics with your friends. Also, as noticed, the diagrams in AIIMS, NEET and JIPMER had come from NCERT only, from the last some years. Remember the labelling, the information provided at the bottom of the diagram, they might be useful. Biology is a vast subject, so you will need to limit to just the important topics.
Stay positive. Remain happy. Keep these few things in mind.
