An additional chance for students who missed JEE Advanced 2020

All the candidates who had successfully registered for JEE Advanced 2020 but were unable to appear for the examination will be given a chance to reappear in 2021.

The decision was taken by the Joint Admission Board (JAB) in an emergency meeting, which was held virtually on 13th October 2020. Candidates will not have to re-qualify JEE Main 2021. They will be allowed to directly appear in the JEE Advanced 2021.

IIT Delhi conducted JEE Advanced on September 27 and announced the results of the test on October 5. But several students could not appear for the test even though they had registered for it, due to the ongoing pandemic.

Firstly, the JAB had considered a relaxation of its eligibility criteria for candidates who were unable to appear in JEE Advanced 2020 due to being COVID-19 positive. And decided to permit an extra attempt to such candidates. The JAB later discussed the various options for candidates who were prevented from appearing in the examination due to restrictions imposed due to COVID-19. Subsequently, to address the concerns of the affected candidates while avoiding prejudice to other candidates. The JAB has decided to allow all the candidates who had successfully registered to appear in JEE Advanced 2020 but were absent in the exam, to appear in JEE Advanced 2021 as a one-time measure.

An equal opportunity for all candidates

All the candidates will not have to appear in JEE Main 2021. They will be directly allowed to appear in JEE Advanced 2021 on the basis based on their successful registration this year. This relaxation of eligibility criteria will be in addition to proportionate relaxation of the age bar.

Additional Number

Candidates who are permitted a second chance to attempt JEE Advanced will be considered in addition to and not as part of the total number of who will qualify from JEE Main 2021. This will be done to save the next year’s candidates from any disadvantage.

Best of Luck…
