AIIMS (MBBS) 2019 : Paper Analysis by ALLEN Experts. Physics and Biology was a bit tricky, Chemistry was easy

The most prestigious medical entrance exam of the country for All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) MBBS was held on 25th & 26th May 2019. The exam was conducted in two shifts – the first shift was from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM while the second shift was held from 03:00 PM to 06:30 PM.

The computer-based exam was conducted across 125 cities in the country. Candidates who qualify in the exam will be eligible for admission to 1,207 MBBS seats, including 7 seats for foreign nationals at AIIMS New Delhi.
Sh Brajesh Maheshwari, Director of Allen Career Institute said that as per the students’ feedback, on day 1-morning shift, of the three main subjects, physics and biology questions were tricky, while chemistry was comparatively easier. Whereas on Day 2 also students found physics and biology questions difficult. In the biology paper, 15 questions were out of NCERT syllabus while the chemistry paper was pretty easy.
AIIMS MBBS 2019 examination had 200 objective type questions – 60 each from Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany & Zoology) and 10 each from General Knowledge and Aptitude & Logical Thinking. Students had 3.5 hours to attempt all 200 questions. There was negative marking of 1/3 marks for an incorrect answer.

Physics
Day 1: Physics Paper of the morning shift was difficult. According to the students the paper was lengthy, as it was calculation based. In the paper 45 % questions were asked from 11th class syllabus which covered topics such as mechanics, heat, SHM and waves. Similarly, 55 % of questions were from 12th class syllabus which covered topics such as electrodynamics, modern physics and electronics. In exam the difficulty level of 2 questions was easy, of 38 questions was moderate while the difficulty level of 20 questions was hard.

Day 2: In the Morning shift 9 questions were asked from mechanics, 8 from heat and 5 from SHM and waves. There were 23 questions from Class 11th syllabus and 37 from class 12th syllabus.
The difficulty level for 10 questions was easy, for 30 questions was moderates and for 20 questions was hard.

Chemistry
Day 1: Chemistry paper was easier as compared to AIIMS 2018 exam. All questions were based on NCERT syllabus. A total of 60 questions were asked. In Physical & Chemistry, 10 questions each were asked from Class 11th and 12th Syllabus. In Organic Chemistry 7 question were aked from class 11th syllabus and 14 questions were asked from class 12th syllabus. While in inorganic chemistry 7 questions were asked from class 11th syllabus and 12 questions were from class 12th syllabus. In this 13 questions had easy difficulty level, 31 questions and moderate and 10 questions had hard difficulty level.

Day 2: The level of chemistry paper in the morning shift was equivalent to that of AIIMS 2018 exam. The paper was completely NCERT based. A total of 20 questions were asked in physics and chemistry. In which there were 9 questions from class 11th syllabus and 11 questions were from Class 12th syllabus. A total of 20 questions were asked from organic chemistry.
7 questions were asked from Class 11th syllabus and 13 questions were from class 12th syllabus. Similarly, out of the total 20 questions asked in inorganic chemistry, 4 questions were from class 11th syllabus and 16 were from class 12th syllabus. In chemistry 154 questions were easy, 33 had a moderate difficulty level and 12 questions were hard.

Biology
Day 1: Biology paper was hard as compared to AIIMS 2018 exam. Some questions were out of NCERT syllabus. Most of the questions were from genetics and virus topic. 28 questions were asked from class 11th syllabus and 31 questions were from class 12th syllabus. 33 questions were easy, 21 questions were moderate and 5 questions were difficult.

Day 2: On the second day also, the exam was harder as compared to AIIMS 2018. 15 questions were out of NCERT syllabus. 18 questions were asked from genetics topics. 30 questions were from class 11th syllabus, and 30 were from the class 12th syllabus. In the overall paper 32 questions were easy, 24 were moderate and 4 questions were hard.

In General Knowledge, 20 questions were asked in the morning and evening shift. In which 10 questions were of aptitude and 10 questions were from current affairs. Questions related to Surgical Strike, Lok Sabha elections and Vijay Mallya were also asked in the exam.
