ALLEN Student Lay Jain to represent India in 48th International Physics Olympiad. The final round to be held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia

Lay Jain – ALLEN Classroom Student

Year after year, the students of ALLEN Career Institute continue to bring glory to the nation and make ALLEN proud with their National/International Achievements. After smashing success in National level engineering & medical entrance examinations, now the path to the glory in International Olympiads is also passing through ALLEN.

This year, ALLEN’s classroom student, Lay Jain has outshined other students by being selected in the team of 5 students, to represent India in Yogyakarta, Indonesia in the 48th International Physics Olympiad.

Mumbai based Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education conducts the National Level Physics Olympiad in 3 difficult stages in which thousands of students from classes 11th and 12th participated this year, out of which only 37 students qualified for the Orientation Cum Selection Camp. After a cut-throat competition at Bhabha Center for Science Education in Mumbai, only 5 students including ALLEN’s Jain, were selected to represent India in the International Physics Olympiad who will now compete to win medals for the country”, says Sh. Brajesh Maheshwari, Director ALLEN Career Institute.

The 48th International Physics Olympiad will take place from July 16th to 24th July, 2016 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia in which the teams from around 88 countries of the world will participate making it a total of 420 students, 170 leaders, 78 observers and 14 visitors. Each team will consist of students selected after a sift process on a national level that will represent their country on the International level.

Maheshwari further added that studying in 11th class at ALLEN Career Institute, Lay also won a Bronze Medal for the nation in 18th Asian Physics Olympiad, earlier this year. The Olympiad which concluded in Russia’s Yakutsk on May 8th, 4 students (2 from class 12th class and 2 from 11th) participated from the country, out of which only Lay won a Bronze medal for the country in 11th class. Prior to that Lay also topped the prestigious Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojna-KVPY this year, has been an NTSE scholar and has also won Gold for the nation at the International Junior Science Olympiad 2 years ago.

Aims to pursue research

Lay devotes a 6 hour time to self studies daily apart from his regular coaching schedule. He likes the subject Physics and hence most of his time goes in studying that. He wishes to complete his graduation post which he aims at pursuing research. Along with his studies, he likes to play badminton and chess for leisure. Occasionally he also reads a few novels. He has been studying in Kota since his class 7th. “Kota coaching methodology is the best in the country and the environment a student gets here is incomparable. Here the students get whatever they could ask for”, says Lay. His mother Bhawna Jain is a home maker while his father Anil Kumar Jain is an engineer in the Indian Railways.
