Kota. In the wake of COVID-19 lockdown, ALLEN Student Welfare Society initiated the ‘Aahar Seva Sankalp’, which successfully culminated on Tuesday, 19 May, 2020. Signifying Kota city’s dedication towards its coaching students, it was ensured ‘No coaching student in Kota shall remain hungry’.

Fulfilling this vow, coaching students of ALLEN and other institutes were provided proper food every morning and evening at their PGs and hostels. This whole initiative was led under the direction and supervision of ALLEN Career Institute Director and ALLEN Student Welfare Society Founder & Director, Shri Naveen Maheshwari. As part of this program, a total of 3.65 lakh food packets were distributed in 58 days to Coaching Students, people in need and workers.

Shri Naveen Maheshwari shared that most of the coaching students have safely reached their homes. With relaxing guidelines for Lockdown 4, markets are to open following certain rules. Looking at the positive change in the scheme of arrangements, we have decided to end the ‘Seva Sankalp’ as of now. However, ALLEN will continue working in the interests and as per the needs of students and Kota citizens.

Encouraging the good work done by CPO, Swachhta workers and other people involved in helping students during these times, they were honored with cash amount. It is notable that these people worked tirelessly; helped carry students’ luggage in train and bus, delivered food to their hostels and PG and aided students in every possible manner.

Chief of the Society, Mukesh Saraswat said that the helpline was announced on March 22. When the lockdown was implemented on March 23, the team started help for food delivery to students. Around 150 people including ALLEN Student Welfare Society members, ALLEN CPO, and vigilance team were involved in this initiative. Members of ALLEN Swachhta Brigade were also working as Corona Warriors. Thus to culminate this unique initiative, we couldn’t think of anything better than serving food to the Swachhta workers.

More Than 70 Thousand Calls Were Received

Saraswat also added that to help coaching students, district administration had opened 8 helpline numbers. ALLEN Student Welfare Society too had released helpline numbers. Students used to call on this helpline number and get their numbers registered for regular delivery of food. More than 70 thousand calls were received on this helpline. Along with ALLEN students, other coaching students as well as students preparing for competitive exams like Patvari, teachers recruitment were also provided food daily. Food was also distributed to needful people in different parts of the city.

45 Thousand Sent Home Safely

During the evacuation of Kota students, ALLEN and other coaching students were sent home with proper care. They were provided with food and snacks packets for the journey. ALLEN Student Welfare Society made special food packets including wafers, biscuits, chocolates, juice, namkeen, kurkure, water bottles and masks. Around 45 thousand students were provided with food and snacks packets.

Helping Hand from Everywhere

Saraswat further shared that many hostel associations of the city came forward to lend a helping hand to ALLEN Student Welfare Society. Initially hostel association contributed by preparing food to deliver to students, shortly other organizations and social workers provided personal assistance for the same. Later ALLEN started diner facility to prepare and distribute food to students. In the beginning, 1100 packets were distributed in a single day which then mounted to 8 to 10 thousand packets per day.

ALLEN Dedicated Towards Serving the City

ALLEN Career Institute is dedicated towards serving the city. Whether it is about development of the city or sending students home or providing them with food and other facilities, ALLEN has always been at the forefront. And in future too, ALLEN will always be there to help face adverse situations positively. The work done by ALLEN Student Welfare Society during lockdown is the ideal example of ALLEN’s dedication towards its students and Kota city.
