– ALLEN Career Institute represented Rajasthan in the meeting
Considering the coaching education as common education, coaching representatives from Top coaching institutes of various states met the Central Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on Wednesday to demand the removal of GST or include it in the minimum slab of GST.
Maharashtra’s MP Poonam Mahajan led the coaching representatives to Finance Minister’s office in Lok Sabha campus for the meeting. At this time, coaching institutes of Rajasthan were represented by Allen Career Institute. Lalit Maheshwari, the Chief Financial officer of Allen Career Institute presented the objective. Representatives of the major coaching institutes of Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Madhya Pradesh were included in the delegation.
Lalit Maheshwari told that the representatives of coaching institutes explained, 18 percent of GST implied on coaching education is a lot and this directly affects the students. He said that if this education is exempted from GST or placed in the GST minimum slab, the students will be directly benefitted.
About 50 lakh students appear in engineering and medical entrance examinations in the country and about 25 lakh students take coaching for its preparation. Coaching institutes of the country are succeeding at providing quality education to the students. Coaching institutes are significantly contributing to building the careers of students. In such a case, it is inappropriate to put coaching institutes in the slab of 18% GST. During the meeting, the Finance Minister was also given a draft which explained the tax burden on coaching institutions and GST burden of coaching education on students and the purpose of coaching education.
After listening to the coaching institutes’ representatives, the Finance Minister said ‘I agree with you, coaching institutes in the country are taking good efforts, they are making a career of students, a process to implement and remove GST is followed. Discuss this matter with all the finance ministers of all states and tell them to put deliver this in the GST Council. If the Finance Minister of the different states supports this thing, then the GST Council will give prompt attention to this matter.’
After the meeting, the representatives of the coaching institute have decided to form a national-level committee to discuss such problems at a suitable platform. In this, the major coaching institutes’ representatives of all those states where coachings are operated, will make efforts to unanimously demolish GST and discuss other such issues at the national level.
Lalit Maheshwari said that during the conversation, after Kota’s circumstance was presented, the finance minister also praised Kota. The Finance Minister said that “Kota is the Kashi of education” as it has also been said by the Prime Minister. Kota’s work is also done according to the rules. This is a good thing and it is creating a career of thousands of students. Students from all over the country are going to Kota.
