ALLEN Career Institute has proved its excellence time and again in the national level engineering and medical entrance examinations. One more feather has been added to its cap as its student Sharvik Mittal has been selected for the final round of International Chemistry Olympiad.
According to Sh Brajesh Maheshwari, Director, ALLEN Career Institute, in the National Level Chemistry Olympiad conducted by the Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education based at Mumbai, from 13th to 22nd April 2016, 36 students participated from all over the country. On the basis of theory and practical tests, final 4 students were selected who will represent India in the International Chemistry Olympiad starting on 1st August in Georgia this year where students from more than 80 countries are going to participate.
Sharvik Mittal, an IIT-JEE classroom program student from ALLEN, has been successfully selected in the team of 4 students to represent India in the final round of 48th International Chemistry Olympiad and is now gearing up to win the Gold Medal for his country.
IChO is conducted in 5 rounds
Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education based at Mumbai, conducts a tough National level Chemistry Olympiad in which this year 40,000 students from classes 11th and 12th appeared for the written test where 700 students were selected for the 2nd round. Out of these 700, only 36 students were selected for the orientation cum selection camp. After 10 days of lectures, only 4 students were selected to represent our country for the International Chemistry Olympiad. These students will be accompanied by a teacher.
Previously, in the 47th International Chemistry Olympiad held in 2015, ALLEN’s 2 students, Peeyush Kabra and Kshitij Garg bagged Gold and Silver Medal, respectively for India.
47 Selections in Orientation Camps of 5 Olympiads
As per Mr Maheshwari, this year, a total of 47 students from ALLEN, have been selected for the Orientation Camps of 5 International Olympiads (16 students from ALLEN have been selected in the Junior Science Olympiad, 14 in Biology, 8 In Chemistry, 5 in Physics and 4 astronomy). These orientation camps will be organized in the months of May and June at HBCSE Mumbai this year.
