Reporting by October 1 at 5 pm, students will have to give a reason for seat withdrawal
The seat allocation for the second round of JoSAA counselling, for more than 54 thousand seats in 112 institutes including IITs, NITs of the country, was released on Wednesday. Students who have got seat allotment for the first time in this round will have to report online by uploading the required documents and depositing the seat acceptance fee by 5 pm on 1st October. Students whose documents are found to be lacking during online reporting will have to respond by October 2 at 5 pm otherwise, their seats will be cancelled.
Amit Ahuja, career counselling expert of Allen Career Institute said that “After the first round of seat allotment, the students of OBC and EWS category, who could not give their category certificate of post 1 April 2022 in online reporting, their allotted seats from the first round will be cancelled. Along with this, these students have got the information about the cancellation of their allotted seats through the seat cancellation letter on their candidate portal. Now all these students have been allotted seats from the open category in the second round. All these students, who have got a new seat, will have to confirm their seat, by re-online reporting for the seat.
According to the Counseling expert, Amit Ahuja, such students who have been allotted seats from IIT to NIT and NIT to IIT in the second round, the documents uploaded in the first round of seat allotment will be re-verified with the newly allotted system. After that the newly allotted seat will be confirmed. On the contrary, the students who have been allotted seats in the past and who have opted for the float and slide option. They have been allotted seats from IITs to IITs and NITs from NITs in the second round and their seats have been confirmed on the basis of their previously verified documents. All these students will not be able to claim an allotted seat in the first round after the allotment of any new seat. All these students are also not required to upload documents again in online reporting. Students can participate in further counselling by changing the float option to slide-way freeze and the slide option to freeze in each round of counselling.
Expert Ahuja said that “For such students who want to withdraw from JoSAA counselling after the second round, the withdrawal option has been made available for them. Students can leave their seats and go out of counseling by filling in the required details. They have to tell JoSAA the reason for leaving the seat. Students will have to inform about which college, and which branch the student was expected to get admission. The student will also have to inform whether he has been admitted in the branch of any other college (except IIT, NIT) in the year 2022 and whether the student will appear for JEE Main again in the year 2023. Students can withdraw from their allotted seats till the fifth round of counseling. The remaining fee will be returned to the students after deducting the counseling processing fee of Rs 6,000.
