CBSE 12th Board Exam Updates: Centre asks states to send suggestions by May 25

The Education Minister, Dr.Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, conducted a high-level meeting today with all the states/UT education ministers, secretaries, and chairpersons of state examination boards and stakeholders to discuss pending Class 12 board and professional courses entrance exams. Defence Minister Sh Rajnath Singh chaired the meeting. Union Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Smriti Irani and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sh Prakash Javadekar also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the Centre has requested the state governments to send their detailed suggestions on conducting CBSE exams for Class XII and entrance examinations for professional courses by May 25.

“I thank all the Chief Ministers, Education Ministers and officers associated with the world’s largest education system for participating in the high-level meeting chaired by Minister of Defence Rajnath Singh ji. As envisioned by the Prime Minister, the meeting was extremely fruitful as we received immensely valuable suggestions. I have requested the State Governments to send me their detailed suggestions by May 25,” tweeted Pokhriyal.

The discussions were held around two themes, i.e., board exams to be conducted for Class XII by the Central Board of Secondary Education and other State Boards and the All-India Entrance examinations for various higher education institutions and professional courses. Various options regarding the methodology, process, duration and timings of the exams were discussed. However, it was decided that States and UTs will examine the matter and send their feedback in writing by May 25, 2021. The Ministry will consider all those suggestions and take a final decision soon.

The priority of the Government is to conduct all the examinations in a safe and secure environment. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will announce the CBSE Class 12 exam dates and the mode of board exams on June 1.
