Rising coronavirus cases across the country have reportedly forced the govt to reconsider its decision to conduct the CBSE board examinations, scheduled to be held from May 4. Earlier, the Maharashtra government postponed Class 10 and 12 exams, scheduled to be held later this month.
The ministry is monitoring the situation constantly; there are no plans to cancel the exams. Both the Education Ministry and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) officials are in discussion if the Class 10, 12 board exams could be postponed because of the rise in COVID-19 cases. At the same time, Fresh COVID-related guidelines is also expected to be released.
CBSE Class 10 exams are scheduled between May 4 and June 7 and Class 12 exams will be held between May 4 and June 15. To ensure the students’ safety and social distancing, CBSE has increased the exam centers. CBSE has also announced several board exam changes this year, including conducting an improvement exam for students in the same academic year. The board has also cut its syllabus by 30 percent and increased the conceptual questions asked in the exams.
