CBSE decided to reinstate the All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Test (AIPMT)

The Central Board of Secondary Education has decided to reinstate the All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Test for admission to 15 pc seats in Government Medical/ Dental Colleges all over India except in the States of Andhra Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir and also for admission to Medical/Dental Colleges voluntarily participating in the test. The decision has been taken for want of time, disclosed CBSE sources to Mathrubhumi Education Online.
The AIPMT 2014 will be held on Sunday, the 04th May, 2014 in selected cities across the Country and abroad. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is in dilemma owing to the litigation over it. Though the Supreme Court had quashed the NEET on 18th July after prolonged arguments in favour and against it . The CBSE’s present decision is subject to the final decision of the Supreme Court in the review petitions against its earlier verdict. The review petitions have been filed by the Medical Council of India and the central government.
The AIPMT will have only one paper like NEET and the CBSE will seek permission from SC for conducting it in a single stage. Usually the AIPMT was conducted in two stages as preliminary and final. The Entrance Test will consist of one paper with 180 objective type questions from the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology (45 questions from each subject). The Syllabus for this entrance examination is the same as notified by the Medical Council of India for NEET-UG which is available on website www.mciindia.org
