Guidelines Issued for Value-Based Questions in 10th-12th Board Examination. All Questions to be Asked from the NCERT Books Only

Taking a step in regards to growing concern amongst students over the out-of-syllabus questions asked in the board exams, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued fresh guidelines. As per the guidelines, there will be a provision for value-based questions.

The board stated that in the exam, a number of questions will be asked wherein other than the questions given after each chapter, a set of questions will also be asked from within the chapter. The questions in concern will be available in the box inside the chapter, for which the board has already given instructions to all the schools. After the board’s guidelines, schools will now have to inform the students about the same.

There Have Been Reports of Out-of-Syllabus Questions For Many years

For the past several years, there have been rumors regarding out-of-syllabus questioning in the question papers of many subjects. Though the board presented various proves of the questions being from the syllabus only, but students and parents were always left misguided. To avoid such a situation this time, the board has released the guidelines to all schools before the commencement of the exam.

Questions to be Asked from NCERT Books

The board cleared that questions will be asked from the NCERT syllabus only. It stated that no question whatsoever will be asked from any other publication. Also, there will be an option for every question this time around. It will be mandatory for the students to answer each question and for every question, there will be an option.

Value-Based Questions will be there in All the Subjects

The board further stated in the guideline that value-based questions will be there in all the subjects of class 10 and 12. In Class 12th Science, Arts, and Commerce stream, value-based questions will be asked in all the subjects. The value-based questions will be of 8 to 12 marks. Even in 10th, value-based questions in all subjects will be asked for eight to ten marks.

CBSE Examination Controller, Sanyam Bhardwaj shared that no question is out of syllabus in the board examination. Question paper is prepared very carefully. Questions can be asked from anywhere in a chapter. Therefore, students should be prepared thoroughly. All questions will be from NCERT only.
