Know the top-20 percentile cut-off of the major boards of the country

Andhra Pradesh Board’s cut-off is the highest, MP-Rajasthan’s is less

In the year 2025, the top 20 percentile of CBSE is 419, Bihar is 345, Chhattisgarh is 387, Haryana is 415, Madhya Pradesh is 409, Punjab is 424, Rajasthan is 436 and Uttarakhand is 346.

Understand the mathematics of the board’s top-20 percentile

Understand the percentile cut-off like this, suppose about 5 lakh students participated in the 12th class of Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education. Out of these, 1 lakh got 436 or more marks out of 500.

Now Rajasthan Board has fixed the limit of top-20 percentile at 436 marks. 2. Students should get admission from their respective boards. National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Rajasthan Open School, Bihar Board Open Schooling and some other boards have not released the top-20 percentile marks yet.

In such a situation, students of these boards have to get admission from their respective boards. This means that students who have scored 436 or more marks will now be considered to be included in the top 20 percentile of the board. Now even if the total marks of these students are less than 75 percent, they will still be eligible for admission in IIT and NIT.

Certificate will have to be obtained from the concerned board

National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Rajasthan Open School, Bihar board Open Schooling and some other boards have not released their top-20 percentile marks. So the students of such boards will have to seek a certificate from the respective boards.

Their admission eligibility will be decided through the certificate only. If students do not submit this certificate then they may be denied admission in institutes like IIT or NIT despite scoring good marks in JEE.
