One of the Goals Behind the Move is to Lessen Students’ Stress Related to Their Studies
Presently the class 10 and 12 board examinations are held only once-a-year in which students are not provided any additional opportunity to better their board score. Now the union government has decided to conduct the class 10 and class 12 board examination two times a year. Union government has taken this decision under its ambitious National Education Policy 2020.
Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Minister of Education, at a program held in Chhattisgarh on 19 February remarked that Students will have the option to sit for the 10th and 12th class board examinations twice a year starting in the academic year 2025–2026 as per the Center’s proposal under the NEP 2020.
Reducing students’ academic stress is one of the objectives of the 2020 National Education Policy (NEP), said Pradhan, who made this announcement on Monday while inaugurating the PM SHRI (Prime Minister Schools for Rising India) program in Chhattisgarh.
Emphasizing the idea of instituting ten days without bags in schools annually, the minister emphasized the need of involving pupils in sports, art, and culture, among other pursuits.
In August of last year, the Ministry of Education unveiled the New Curriculum Framework (NCF), which states that board exams will take place at least twice a year to give students ample time and chance to do well. Additionally, they will have the choice to keep their top score.
“The goal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s NEP is to keep kids stress-free, provide them with a high-quality education, connect them to culture, and help them get ready for the future. This is the plan to turn India into a developed nation by 2047,” he declared.
