Due to the ongoing pandemic, many things changed in the procedure of IOQ (Indian Olympiad Qualifier) 2020-21. The national Olympiad programme in science subjects culminating in the international Olympiads of 2021 will now follow a two-stage selection procedure instead of three stages.
• Indian Olympiad Qualifier (IOQ) 2020-2021 will be the first stage.
• The Orientation cum Selection Camp (OCSC) will be the second stage.
In a deviation from the usual three-stage procedure for selecting the teams to represent India at the international Olympiads followed in previous years, the selection procedure for the 2020-2021 cycle has been condensed to a two-stage process as a one-time exemption.
Indian Olympiad Qualifier (IOQ) 2020-21 is a three-hour two-part examination. It was jointly organized by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) and the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research) – HBCSE (TIFR). The Orientation-cum-Selection Camp (OCSC) is to be organized by HBCSE.
Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Physics (IOQP) was conducted on February 7, 2021, Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Biology (IOQB) was conducted on February 7, 2021, and Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Chemistry (IOQC) was conducted on February 6, 2021.

Selections in Orientation-cum-Selection Camps (OCSCs)
The total number of students to be selected for OCSC in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics are 35 and in Astronomy are 50, unless declared to be otherwise before the IOQ examinations.
If there is a tie at the last position in the merit list of the respective IOQ Part II, all students with the same marks at the last position will qualify for the OCSC.
