Know the Complete Process about Admission and Formalities of NITs & IIITs
The admission process in India’s National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) has now reached its final stage. After the final round of CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) counselling, the first semester is going to start for the students.
While classes have already started in IITs, now new students of NITs and IIITs will also start their studies between 23 August and 1 September.
According to education experts of ALLEN Career Institute, the first semester in most NITs and IIITs will start between 23 to 26 August. However, some institutes may start classes till 1 September as well.
The CSAB counselling data shows that the competition for admissions to NITs and IIITs was quite high this year as well. According to counselling experts from ALLEN Career Institute, the following closing ranks were recorded in the third round seat allotment list:
NIT (Gender Neutral Pool – Open Category): 7,41,304
This rank was allotted to MSc Physics branch in NIT Agartala (Home State quota).
NIT (Female Pool – Open Category): 5,15,709
At this rank, a female student from Jammu-UT quota was allotted to Metallurgical branch in NIT Srinagar.
IIIT (Gender Neutral Pool): 2,07,984
At this rank, Electronics and Communication branch was allotted to IIIT Manipur.
IIIT (Female Pool): 3,08,25
IIIT Manipur seat was also allotted at this rank.
GFTI (Gender Neutral Pool): 13,43,430
GFTI (Female Pool): 10,82,121
It is clear from these figures that the opportunity to get a seat in NITs and IIITs was available even till the last round.
This time is very important for the newly admitted students. They not only have to complete the college formalities but also have to be ready for a new beginning of academic life. Below are some key guidelines:
At the beginning of the first semester, students get to experience the environment, faculty and resources of these institutes.
After the completion of the CSAB 2025 counselling process, now NITs and IIITs are going to start their first semester from 23 August to 1 September. In most of the institutes, classes will start from 23 to 26 August only.
Thus, the new academic session is the beginning of a new journey for students, which will provide a strong foundation not only for technical knowledge but also for career and life.
