On Tuesday, Union Science and Technology Minister, Shri Harsh Vardhan met and honored the students, who obtained medals in the 13th International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO) organized by the Geological Society of India, in New Delhi. Allen’s classroom students Anuj Jain and Tejas Kumar were also among these meritorious students.
The main event took place at Prithvi Bhawan, New Delhi, where the members of the Geological Society of India met the Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology and science students. Here they were asked about their experiences of Earth Science Olympiad. Simultaneously, their reviews and recommendations for improvements were also taken. After this, Union Science and Technology Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan met the students at CSIR Research Building in the afternoon and congratulated them on their achievements.
A team of 4 members led the Indian team at the IESO held from 26 August to 3 September in Daegu, Republic of Korea. Among these, two students were from Allen Career Institute. Anuj Jain of Allen won three medals in different categories. He won Gold in International Team Field Investigation (ITFI), Silver in Theory and Practical, Bronze Medal in Earth Science Projects. Similarly, Tejas won Gold in Earth Science Projects and Silver Medal in Theory and Practical. In this way, two of Allen students won five medals in the IESO Olympiad.
