Looking at the extraordinary situation prevailing in the country and the world, CBSE has revised the curriculum and reduced course load for the students of Class 9th to 12th for the academic session 2020-21. The prevailing health emergency in the country due to the spread of Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in the loss of classroom teaching.
Considering the importance of achieving the level of learning, the syllabus has been rationalized to the extent possible by retaining the core concepts.
The change in the syllabus will not impact JEE (Main), NEET-UG, and JEE (Advanced), scheduled for September 2020 as they are based on the old syllabus. Also the syllabus change will not directly affect JEE preparation for the year 2021. Students don’t need to change their preparation strategy due to this change. The topics which are eliminated from the syllabus are effectively about 25 to 30 percent of overall syllabus, the reduction in content is done mostly in the application part, which anyhow students must cover from competitive preparation.
The students who are preparing for the board exams must stick to the syllabus, but for the competitive exam point of view, they need to study all the topics as the IIT-JEE and NEET (UG) are application-based. However, NTA has not released any guidelines for the same. Students should not take stress about the syllabus rather focus on the knowledge by forgetting about the syllabus boundaries.
