JEE Advanced 2016 will be held on 22-May-2016, Registrations will start from 29-April-2016

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati, will be conducting JEE Advanced 2016 and has announced that exam will be held on 22 May 2016 (Sunday). The Paper-I will be held from 9:00 to 12:00 IST and the Paper-II is scheduled from 14:00 to 17:00 IST.  Both the papers are mandatory. The candidates can choose the medium of question paper to be either English or Hindi.

For securing admission in IITs and ISM you should either be in category wise top 20 percentile in class XII or must have scored at least 75% aggregate marks for general and OBC-NCL or 70% aggregate marks for SC, ST and PwD candidates.

Online Registrations will Begin on 29th April 2016 :

  1. Online Registration: Begin at 10 a.m. on April 29, 2016 (Friday) and will close by 5 p.m. on May 4, 2016 (Wednesday).
  2. Registration fee:
  • For Female/SC/ST/PWD Candidates is INR 1000
  • For all other candidates is INR 2000
  • For all candidates appearing in Dubai Examination Centre is USD 220

Note: The aforementioned registration fees for JEE Advanced 2016 is excluding Service Charges, Processing Fees and any other charges that banks may charge.

  1. Eligibility Criteria:
  • The candidate should be among the top 2, 00,000 (all categories included) in JEE Main 2016. The percentages of the total number of candidates for various categories are: 50.5% for GEN (from the common rank list), 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC and 7.5% for ST. Within each of these four categories, 3% horizontal reservation is available for PwD candidates. PwD category includes Dyslexic candidates also.
  • The candidate should have been born on or after October 1, 1991 if belonging to the GEN or OBC-NCL category/ on or after October 1, 1986 if belonging to the SC, ST or PWD category
  • A candidate can attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times and that too in consecutive years. Therefore, JEE Advanced 2016 should be either the candidate’s first attempt or the second consecutive attempt.
  • The candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in all the subjects in either 2015 or 2016.
  • Candidates, who appeared for the class XII (or equivalent) examination in 2015 and wish to re-appear for the same in 2016 (either for improvement or because they failed in one or more subjects), will have to re-appear in all the subjects in 2016.
  • Those, who appeared for the first time in their class XII (or equivalent) examination in 2014 or earlier, are not eligible, however, candidates whose class XII (or equivalent) examination board results for the academic year 2013-14 were declared after June 2014 are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2016.
  • The candidate should not have taken admission (irrespective of whether or not he/she continued in the program) or even accepted admission by paying admission fee at any of the IITs or ISM in the past; even candidates whose admission was cancelled are not eligible. However, candidates who have been admitted to a preparatory course in any of the IITs in 2015 can appear for JEE Advanced 2016.
  1. Documents required for JEE Advanced 2016 registration:

While registering Online for JEE Advanced 2016, the candidates need to upload scanned copies of the following documents.

For All candidates:

  • Class X certificate if the date of birth is mentioned in it OR birth certificate.
  • Class XII (or equivalent examination) certificate (for those who appeared for this examination in 2015).
  • If the name is not same as in the Class X certificate, gazette notification showing the change of name.

For OBC-NCL category candidates:

  • Such candidates need to upload a scanned copy of OBC-NCL certificate (FORM-OBC-NCL) issued on or after June 1, 2015 and conforming to the latest guidelines of the Government of India.

For SC or ST category candidates:

  • They need to upload Caste (for SC) or tribe (for ST) certificate (FORM-SC/ST). For PwD category candidates
  • PWD candidates registering for JEE Advanced 2016 need to upload their Disability certificate (FORM-PWD [II/III/IV], whichever is applicable]) issued by a district medical board/competent authority. Dyslexic candidate needs to submit FORM-DYSLEXIC instead of FORM-PWD.

Candidates needing the services of a scribe:

  • The services of a scribe (amanuensis) are available to candidates who are visually impaired, dyslexic, have disability in the upper limbs or have lost fingers/hands thereby preventing them from bubbling the optical response sheet (ORS).
  • To avail this benefit, the candidate should request the Chairman, JEE (Advanced) 2016, of the respective zonal IIT in the prescribed format (FORM-SCRIBE). The requisition, along with a copy of the PwD certificate (FORM-PwD [II/III/IV, whichever is applicable]) OR a copy of the certificate of Dyslexic candidate (FORM-DYSLEXIC ), whichever is applicable, should be uploaded at the time of online registration for JEE (Advanced) 2016.
  • Zonal IITs will make arrangements, through the Presiding Officer (PO) of the Examination Center, to provide a panel of scribes (amanuenses). Scribes will be students of Class XI from the science stream with Mathematics as one of the subjects. The PwD/Dyslexic candidate has to choose a scribe from this panel. The candidates will NOT be allowed to bring their own scribes.
  • The candidate will be allowed to meet the scribe one day prior to the examination i.e., on Saturday, 21 May 2016, in the presence of the IIT Representatives (IRs), Presiding Officer (PO) and an Invigilator.
  • If it is found that a candidate has used the services of a scribe, and consequently one extra hour, but does not possess the extent of disability that warrants the use of a scribe, he/she will be excluded from the process of evaluation, ranking and admission. If the candidate has already been admitted, his/her admission will be cancelled.

For DS category candidates:

Candidates registering under this category are required to upload the scanned copy of Certificate (FORM-DS) issued by a competent authority in the Directorate of Resettlement and Rehabilitation, New Delhi under the Ministry of Defense or the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

For candidates who’s Class XII examination Board is outside India:

Such candidates need to upload a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities to the effect that the examination qualified by the candidates is equivalent to the Class XII examination.
