JEE Advanced 2016 was held on 22nd May, Sunday all across the nation in 2 rounds. Paper 1 started from 9 Am to 12 Noon and Paper 2 was conducted from 2 PM to 5 PM. ALLEN Career Institute has prepared the Answer Key, Paper Solutions, Video Solutions and Paper Analysis for the same.
JEE Advanced 2016 Paper 1 Analysis
The JEE Advanced 2016 Paper 1 contained 5 Single Correct Answer Type Questions per subject , 8 Multiple Correct Answer type Questions Per subject and 5 Numerical grid Type (Single Digit) questions per subject.
In all, the marks distribution for Single Correct Answer Type Questions was 45, for Multiple Correct Answer type Questions was 96 and the rest for Numerical grid Type (Single Digit) questions was 45 marks. If we talk about the share in percentage of share of the questions then we would see that the major share goes to Multiple Correct Answer Type questions with 52% share in the total weightage and 24% each for Single Correct Answer Type Questions and Numerical grid Type (Single Digit) questions
Now, if we analyse the difficulty level of the paper 1, we would notice that the overall paper was of moderate difficulty with the questions worth 75 marks falling in the moderate category. Easy questions were of 69 marks whereas only 42 marks questions belonged to the difficult category.
Now as per the subject wise analysis, Mathematics section was the most difficult of all, having difficult questions of 18 marks, 27 marks of moderate level questions and 17 marks for easy questions. On the other hand Chemistry contained 16 marks worth difficult questions, moderate level questions of 31 marks and easy level questions of 15 marks. Physics was the easiest of all to appear as it contained majority easy questions worth 37 marks, moderate level questions of 17 marks and only 8 marks questions falling under the difficult category.
JEE Advanced 2016 Paper 2 Analysis
The JEE Advanced 2016 Paper 2 contained 6 Single Correct Answer Type Questions per subject , 8 Multiple Correct Answer type Questions Per subject and 4 Linked Comprehension Type (Single Correct) questions per subject. So it had Single Correct Answer Type Questions of 54 marks in total, Multiple Correct Answer type Questions of 96 marks and Linked Comprehension Type (Single Correct) questions of 36 marks for all 3 subjects.
So we see that Multiple Correct Answer Type Questions had 52% share in the total marks of the paper while Single Correct Answer Type consisted of the 29% marks followed by Linked Comprehension Type (Single Correct) questions having 19% share in the total marks.
Now, if we analyse the difficulty level of the paper 2, we would notice that the overall paper was of moderate difficulty with the questions worth 82 marks falling in the moderate category. Easy questions were of 54 marks whereas 50 marks questions belonged to the difficult category.
To talk about the subject wise analysis, Physics was the toughest section to solve with questions worth 24 marks falling under high difficulty level, moderate level questions of 32 marks followed by only 6 marks questions under easy level. Mathematics section followed Physics in difficulty level where questions worth 17 marks were asked from the difficult category, questions worth 23 marks from the moderate category and easy questions of 22 marks were given. Chemistry was the easiest section of the 3 subjects, where only 9 marks questions fell under the category with high difficulty, 27 marks questions from the moderate category and 26 marks questions from the easy category.
In Physics, majority questions were asked from the Chapter Modern Physics (18.55%), Current Electricity (13.71%), Rotation (13.71%) and Geometrical Optics (11.29%).
In Mathematics, Maximum questions came from the Determinant & Matrices and Application of Derivatives with 11.29% questions asked from each of the chapters.
The Chemistry Section was well distributed between questions from Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Physical chemistry.
