Last year the examination was conducted in 5 countries. While 807 foreign citizens, 226 Overseas and 45 PIO (Person of Indian Origin) students were registered, out of which 53 foreign citizens, 205 Overseas and 44 PIO students gave the exam. Also, 1 student from foreign nationality, 83 from OCI and 16 students of PIO qualified JEE-Advanced exam.
According to the information released on the JEE-Advanced website, The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) will admit undergraduate students based on their performance in JEE-Advanced and drop the Class 12 board examination performance criteria for this year in view of the Covid-19 pandemic disrupting the board examinations. Qualified candidates who have passed class 12 examinations will now be eligible for admissions irrespective of marks obtained. Earlier, only students who scored a minimum 75 percent marks in the Class 12 board exams or ranked in the top 20 percentile in their qualifying examinations were eligible.
