Numerical questions asked in paragraphs for the first time in JEE Advanced.

Mathematics was difficult, Physics was average, and Chemistry was easy.

The country’s most prestigious engineering entrance exam JEE Advanced was held on 3rd October in 9 cities of Rajasthan and 229 cities across the country. IIT Kharagpur conducted this exam in two shifts from 9 am to 12 noon and 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. As per the feedback received on CSAT, Sh Brajesh Maheshwari, Director of ALLEN Career Institute, concluded that JEE Advanced 2021 paper was easier than the previous year. Physics and Chemistry paper was overall easy. While the Maths paper was lengthy and the language of the questions was confusing.

The paper pattern was similar to 2018, but the questions were asked differently. Students took a lot of time to solve the paper as it was lengthy. Those who have practiced solving papers of different difficulty levels and prepared throughout the year found the paper easier.

For the first time in JEE Advanced 2021, the numerical type questions were asked in paragraphs. Each numerical question was of 2 marks. There was no negative marking. At the same time, the integer questions were asked in the form of a non-negative integer of 4 marks each. The rest of the questions were based on Single Correct, Multiple Correct, and Paragraph Pattern.

57 questions were asked in each Paper 1 and Paper 2, i.e. 19 questions each were asked in Physics, Maths, and Chemistry. Paper 1 and Paper 2 had a total of 360 marks. Each subject was divided into four different parts, A, B, C, D.

Chemistry Paper Analysis

Most of the questions in the Chemistry paper were NCERT based. An equal number of questions were asked from the syllabus of both classes 11th and 12th. The calculation was more in Physical Chemistry. Directly formula-based questions were asked in Paper 2 of Physical Chemistry. Organic Chemistry remained the same as compared to the last year, but it had calculation-based questions. Whereas metallurgy, salt analysis, and coordination chemistry had more weightage in inorganic chemistry.

Physics Paper Analysis

The physics paper was easy. The paper covered almost all the topics of the syllabus of both classes 11th and 12th.

Maths Paper Analysis

Maths paper was the toughest. Vector, straight line, complex number, probability, and matrix chapters had good weightage in Paper 1. In Paper 2, more questions were asked from Calculus and Coordinate Geometry. The language of the questions was quite confusing.
