JEE Advanced 2026 examination is couple of months away from now so here is all the details for the aspirants about this coveted examination including its registration commencement dates and deadline, city intimation slips and admit card release dates, examination dates and examination sessions.

This year, the Joint Entrance Examination Advanced 2026 will be held on May 17, 2026. The Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, is responsible for conducting the exam.

Along with the JEE Advanced 2026 exam date, the institute has also released important information regarding the registration process, admit cards, and exam schedule. Only students who achieve the required rank in the Joint Entrance Examination Main will be eligible to apply for JEE Advanced.

Separate Registration dates for foreign and Indian students

The application process for JEE Advanced 2026 will be launched in a phased manner. The registration window for foreign students will open on April 6, 2026, while the application process for Indian students will begin on April 23, 2026. All eligible candidates must apply online. The deadline for applications is May 2, 2026.

Interested candidates can fill out the application form by visiting the official website, jeeadv.ac.in. No applications will be accepted after the deadline, so students are advised to complete the application process within the stipulated date.

Admit Cards Available for Download from May 11

Admit cards for candidates appearing for the exam will be issued starting May 11, 2026. Students will be able to download their admit cards from the official website from May 11 to May 17, 2026.

The admit cards will contain the exam center, exam timings, and other important instructions. Candidates must bring their admit card and a valid identity card to the exam centre. No candidate will be allowed to appear for the exam without an admit card.

The exam will be held in two sessions on the same day

JEE Advanced 2026 will be conducted in two sessions on May 17. The first paper will be held from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, while the second paper will be held from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

Taking both papers is mandatory for all candidates. The exam aims to evaluate students’ analytical ability, problem-solving skills, and conceptual understanding.

Only the top 2.5 lakh candidates will be eligible for JEE Main

Only students who have secured a rank within the top 250,000 in Paper 1 (BE/BTech) of the Joint Entrance Examination Main 2026 can apply for JEE Advanced.

This rule applies to candidates from all categories. Therefore, the JEE Main results will determine which students are eligible for JEE Advanced.

A maximum of two attempts are allowed

The number of attempts to take the JEE Advanced exam is also limited. A candidate can appear for this exam only twice. Both attempts can be made in two consecutive years.

If a student has appeared for the exam in one year, they can reappear the following year.

12th-grade qualifications are also required

To apply for JEE Advanced 2026, candidates must have appeared for the 12th-grade or equivalent examination for the first time in 2025 or 2026.

They must also have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. These three subjects are considered the foundation of the engineering entrance exam.

Students who have previously been admitted to an IIT will not be eligible

If a candidate has already been admitted to an Indian Institutes of Technology, they will not be eligible for the JEE Advanced exam.

This rule has been implemented to provide new and qualified students with the opportunity to enter an IIT.

Computer-Based Test and Question Paper in Two Languages

JEE Advanced 2026 will be conducted in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. The exam will be conducted at designated exam centres across the country.

For student convenience, the question paper will be available in two languages—Hindi and English. This makes it easier for students from different regions of the country to take the exam.
