Question: JEE Main 2014 offline mode of exam is over now. What is your overall analysis of the paper?

Brajesh Sir: The JEE Main 2014 paper wise analysis is as below –

Physics –

  • Fundamental questions were asked.
  • However no analytical questions were present.
  • Questions composition was almost uniform from Class 11th and 12th.
  • Questions from Mechanics found more representation.
  • Physics was rated moderate but the questions were lengthy.

Chemistry –

  • Chemistry in general was considered to very easy and almost all questions were direct.
  • Majority of questions were directly from the NCERT text books.
  • Major questions were found to be from Physical Chemistry, followed by Organic and then Inorganic.
  • No assertion-reason type questions were found as they were in last year.

Mathematics –

  • Many questions were repeated from IIT-JEE 2000-2001.
  • The questions were comparatively easy from the last year’s pattern but were time consuming due to lengthy calculations.
  • No assertion-reason type questions.

Moreover I would say that no new questions were provided and most of them repeated.

Question: What is the expected JEE Main 2014 Cutoff?

Brajesh Sir: Since the examination was moderately easier compared to JEE 2013. Cutoff mark for General may be raised up to 135.

Brajesh Sir: I shall advise the JEE Main aspirants to leave the erroneous, difficult and time consuming questions and concentrate only on the questions which they can calculate easily.

Brajesh Sir: There were some questions which were either wrong or had wrong options provided in the JEE Main 2014 question paper. One question was wrong in Maths paper and one question from Physics paper was wrong and had misprints of units in two questions.
