JEE Main 2018 Paper Analysis : NCERT Based Paper with Average Difficulty Level

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the pen and paper exam of JEE Main-2018 on Sunday, April 8, 2018. JEE Main 2018 computer-based test (CBT) will be conducted on April 15 and 16, 2018. Close to 11 lakh candidates have appeared for JEE Main-2018  examination.

According to Sh. Brajesh Maheshwari, Director of ALLEN Career Institute, Pen and paper exam of JEE Main-2018 was of moderate difficulty level. Physics and Maths will be scoring for the students. Both the papers were neither too tough nor too difficult. The best thing is all the questions are having a single solution and there are no doubts regarding the solution.

The paper was NCERT based, which comprised questions with easy, moderate and difficult questions in an equal ratio. This year there was no equal distribution of topics. There were some topics of which many questions were asked whereas there were some from which not a single question was included. For example, questions were not asked from Carbonyl Compound in Chemistry and Geometrical Optics in Physics

 

The paper comprised of 30 questions from Chemistry, which carried total 120 marks. It had 5 difficult questions of 20 marks. 10 questions with a moderate difficulty level of 40 marks. Whereas 15 questions were of the easy level, comprising 60 marks.

Only 2 questions from Maths were difficult which carried 8 marks. The difficulty level of 11 questions was moderate, carrying of 44 marks. While 17 questions were of easy level comprising of 68 marks.

In Physics only 1 question of 4 marks was difficult.19 questions comprising of 76 marks had a moderate difficulty level. Whereas 10 questions carrying 40 marks were easy.

The paper included 47 questions from the 12th standard syllabus. Whereas 43 questions were asked from the 11th standard syllabus. In total questions from 12th standard syllabus comprised 188 marks which included 16 questions of 64 marks, 15 questions of 60 marks and 16 questions of 64 marks. While total questions from 11th standard syllabus comprised 172 marks which included 14 questions of 56 marks, 15 questions of 60 marks and 14 questions of 56 marks.
