JEE Main 2020 (Jan) Official Press Release by NTA. Know the number of registered candidates, total centers & security measures

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting the January JEE(Main) 2020 Examination between 6th -9th January, 2020 for 11,18,673 registered candidates (9,21,261 for B.E./B.Tech.  1,38,409 for B. Arch. and 59,003 for B Planning). The examination will be held in two shifts per day.

The JEE (Main)-2020 Examination will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) as per the following details:

  1. E. /B. Tech. in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only.
  2. Arch.: Mathematics-(Part I) and Aptitude Test-(Part II) in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode and Drawing Test –(Part III) in “Pen & Paper” (offline) mode.
  3. Planning: Mathematics-(Part I), Aptitude Test-(Part II) and Planning (Part III) in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode.

‘*’ including 62 candidates in 08 cities outside India

The Examination would be conducted in 567 Centres in 231 Cities [09 (Bahrain, Colombo, Doha, Dubai, Kathmandu, Muscat, Riyadh, Sharjah, Singapore) outside India]. JEE (Main) 2020 Examination will be conducted completely on Computer Based Test (CBT) for the second time.

All the preparations for conducting the examination have been completed:

  1. A Control Room has been opened and 30 State Coordinators, 240 City Coordinators and 600 Observers have been positioned.
  2. A third party audit of all examination centres has been completed.
  3. Live CCTV Surveillance has been started in all the examination centres to curb malpractices in the examinations. The NTA is also making arrangements for live viewing at remote location and recording CCTVs Systems of all examination centres at Control Room situated in the NTA. A total of 9500 cameras per shift have been installed.
  4. A network of more than 4000 Test Practice Centres, especially for students of rural areas, has run free practice sessions to assist aspirants of January JEE (Main) – 2020 candidates.
  5. Jammers: In order to stop cheating using mobile networks, Jammers have been installed in all the centres. A total of about 4,600 jammers per shift in all 08 shifts have been put in place.

While assuring the candidates of the highest professional conduct of the exam, NTA requests cooperation of all the stakeholders for an orderly conduct of the exam.
