The last date for registration of JEE Main 2020, the country’s largest engineering exam, which will be held in 224 cities of the country from 6 to 11 January 2019, has been extended to 10 October, 11:50 P.M. Earlier, the JEE Main 2020 registrations were ending today, i.e. 30 September 2019 but, due to an appeal by large numbers of students for extension of the date, this decision was taken by NTA in the interest of the students. So far, more than 9 lakh 20 thousand students have applied for JEE Main 2020 January exam. After extending the last date by 10 days, the number of applicants is likely to exceed 10 lakhs mark.
The Public Notice reads:
“In continuation of the Public Notice dated the 3rd September. 2019 for submission of online application form of January JEE(Main)–2020 for admission to Undergraduate Programs in NITs, IIITs and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) etc. in the next academic year (2020-2021), it is hereby informed that the last date for submission of online application form, is extended from 30th Sept. 2019 to 10th Oct. 2019, in order to enable the aspiring candidates who have not been able to apply in the Online Application Form. This is being done in view of a number of requests being received in this regard.”
According to the experts, more than one lakh students are expected to register in the extended period as, states like Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Orissa, and Bihar, etc. do not have their own examination for admission in engineering institutes. In these states, students can only get admission in engineering institutes through their respective JEE Main scores. This increased the possibility of more students registering for the January JEE Main examination this year than the last year January exam.
