JEE Main 24 Feb 2021 Paper Analysis: Physics was Easy, Chemistry was Average, and Maths was Lengthy

Paper Analysis of JEE Main 2021 (February Attempt) by Brajesh Maheshwari Sir, Director, ALLEN Career Institute

The examination of JEE Main 2021 (February Attempt) for BE/ B.Tech started on Wednesday. The exam was conducted in two shifts in computer-based mode Brajesh Maheshwari Sir, Director of ALLEN Career Institute, said that based on the students’ feedback and the feedback received on CSAT, it is concluded that physics was easy, the chemistry was average, and math paper was lengthy. Overall the paper was easy.

Due to Covid, NTA announced that the topics that were removed from the CBSE 12th class syllabus were to be asked only in the Numerical Value (Integer) type question section. This change in exam pattern was done so that the students could attempt them or skip attempting them. But in the examination, questions from these types of topics were also present in the initial 20 questions. Students did not have an option to choose in the initial 20 questions. Such questions were asked from transistors in physics, metallurgy, and polymers in chemistry. In such a situation, the students who have left these questions will be at a disadvantage. In all the questions in the numerical section, students had to solve 5 out of 10 questions in each subject.

Students were asked to round off

In JEE Main February BE/ B.Tech paper, students were asked to round off answers in numerical questions; this was not the case until last year. For example, if the answer is coming 23.4, he/ she would be writing 23.4, but this time after rounding off, the answer will be 24. Some students did not read this specific guideline of the paper; they might be at a disadvantage. Therefore, students appearing in the examination in the next two days should take special care of this new guideline in the examination. Every student should read the guidelines carefully before starting the paper.

JEE Main 2021: Chemistry Paper Analysis

The Chemistry paper was NCERT based. Some old questions from previous JEE Advanced papers were also asked. The number of questions asked from Physical Chemistry was limited. More questions were asked from organic and inorganic chemistry. The questions covered metallurgy, biomolecules, oxidation in organic reactions, polymers, borax bead test, coordination number in BCC, and anaerobic, oxidized gas of matter in environmental chemistry. Apart from these, questions were also asked from Kinetics, Chemical Equilibrium, and Biomolecule.

JEE Main 2021: Physics Paper Analysis

Students did not face much difficulty in the Physics paper in JEE Main Examination. The paper was easier compared to previous years. The questions asked comprised an almost equal number of 11th and 12th-grade NCERT Books topics; all the chapters were given good weightage. The paper had more questions about mechanics and gravitation. Apart from this, a fair number of questions also came from friction and transistors. Some questions were theoretically based.

JEE Main 2021: Maths Paper Analysis

The paper was more calculative and lengthy than the other two subjects. Almost all the topics were covered in the question paper. Some questions were asked directly from JEE Advanced previous years’ papers. Students’ mathematical skills were tested by examining topics like Vector 3D, Coordinate Geometry, Indefinite Integration, P&C, and Probability. Only a few questions were asked from the topics that are only present in the JEE Main syllabus.
