JEE Main 2022: Know about the paper pattern and marking scheme changes

Some Major Change in JEE Main 2022

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the JEE Main 2022 exam schedule, paper pattern, eligibility criteria on the official website.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) in two sessions. The candidates appearing for JEE Main 2022 will only get two attempts, unlike last year when they got four attempts. JEE Main Session 1 will be held on 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21 April 2022, whereas Session 2 will be held on 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, and 29 May 2022.

The Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main), will comprise two papers. Paper 1 will be conducted for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E/B.Tech.) at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), Institutions/Universities funded/recognized by participating State Governments. JEE (Main) is also an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs. Paper 2 will be conducted for admission to B. Arch and B. Planning courses in the Country.

JEE Main 2022 Exam Pattern

Each Subject will have two sections. Section A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In Section B, candidates have to attempt any 05 (five) questions out of 10.

There will be negative marking for both Section A and Section B. For each question in Section B, enter the correct integer value of the answer using the mouse and the on-screen virtual numeric keypad in the place designated to enter the answer. For Section B, the answer should be rounded off to the nearest Integer.

Method of resolving ties

Tie between candidates obtaining equal Total NTA scores in Paper1: B.E./B.Tech will be resolved in the following manner in descending order.

  • NTA score in Mathematics, followed by
  • NTA score in Physics, followed by
  • NTA score in Chemistry, followed by 4. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all the subjects in the Test, followed by
  • Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Mathematics in the Test, followed by
  • Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Physics in the Test, followed by
  • Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Chemistry in the Test followed by
  • Older in Age followed by
  • Application Number in ascending order
