The Morning Shift Paper was Moderate
The second day of the JEE Main April 2026 session, the country’s largest engineering entrance exam for admission to BE and BTech courses, was held on Saturday.
A detailed analysis based on student feedback revealed that the morning shift paper was balanced and overall moderate, assessing students’ logical and calculation abilities.
One question in the Physics paper was related to the revolving power of a telescope, which has been removed from the JEE Main syllabus.

The Physics paper in the morning shift was moderate. Most of the questions covered the NCERT syllabus. The level of the questions asked in the paper was higher than those given in the NCERT.
Six questions were asked from Mechanics, two each from Electrodynamics, Modern Physics, Magnetism, Waves, and Semiconductors. Three questions were asked from Heat and Thermodynamics.
One question each was asked from Fluids and Errors.

The level of the Chemistry paper in the morning shift was easy, which had NCERT-based questions. The calculations in Physical Chemistry were easy.
The questions asked in Organic Chemistry were also of the NCERT level. Two questions each were asked from Quantum Numbers and Electronic Configurations, Chemical Bonding, POC, Biomolecules, Purification of Organic Compounds, and Mole Concepts.
Keeping the JEE Main syllabus in mind, one question each was covered from all other topics.

The Maths paper was moderately difficult and lengthy, but calculations were easier than previous papers. 40% of the questions were from the 11th-grade syllabus and 60% from the 12th-grade syllabus.
40% were from Algebra, 32% from Calculus, 16% from Coordinate Geometry, and 12% from Vector 3D and Trigonometry combined. The paper covered all JEE Main topics.
