JoSAA 2025 – Physical Reporting Process & Required Documents

Know What to do after JoSAA Counseling!

Now that the entire process of JoSAA Counseling 2025 is over, and for the students who have been allotted seats in IITs, the next and most important phase has now begun — Physical reporting and final admission process.

In this article, we will tell you in detail what process to follow for admission in IIT, what documents are required, how to do online reporting and when to do physical reporting.

Physical Reporting in IIT: Why is it Necessary?

After JoSAA counseling, the students who have got a seat in IIT will have to physically report to their respective IIT institutes. This process is the last step for admission to the institute. Different IITs have announced reporting dates on their websites, such as:

  • IIT Bombay – 20 July 2025
  • IIT Delhi – 21 July 2025

Other IITs have different reporting dates, information of which is available on the respective websites.

Which students do not have to do physical reporting?

If you have got a seat in NIT, IIIT or GFTI, then you do not need to do physical reporting at the moment. The next step for these institutes will be CSAB counseling, after which physical reporting will have to be done.

List of documents required for admission in IIT (bring all original + photocopies):

  1. Provisional Seat Allotment Letter (of JoSAA Round 6)
  2. Valid Photo ID Proof (Aadhaar, Voter ID, Passport etc.)
  3. Three passport size photographs (recent)
  4. 10th mark sheet (for date of birth proof)
  5. 12th mark sheet (for educational qualification)
  6. Category Certificate (if applicable – SC/ST/OBC/EWS — should be after 1st April 2025 and in JoSAA format)
  7. Medical Certificate (in JoSAA format, uploaded earlier)
  8. Transfer Certificate (TC) (issued by previous school/college)
  9. Migration Certificate (issued by your board Balance Fee Payment Receipt (whatever fees you have deposited in the college after JoSAA)

  12. Hostel Admission Proof/Receipt (if taken hostel)

All IITs have shared the information of these documents on their “Fresher Admission Portals”. Some IITs have also provided formats which have to be downloaded, filled and scanned and uploaded.

What is the meaning of Online Reporting?

Some IITs have instructed to upload scanned copy of documents on website or ERP portal before physical reporting. Students are instructed to upload documents on the ERP portal by providing their login ID and password.

For example:

  • IIT Bombay has asked for document upload through ERP login.
  • IIT Delhi has provided the complete process on Fresher’s Portal.

Why is there a Variation in the Process?

Each IIT’s reporting process, list of documents and portal may vary. Some institutes have sent information to students through email, while some have uploaded notifications on the website itself.

Hence, all students are advised to visit the official website of the IIT in which they have got a seat and check the latest updates.

Special Tips:

Carry original and at least 2 photocopies of all documents.

Organize all documents in a folder.

  • If an IIT has issued a format for uploading documents, fill it, scan it and upload it on time.
  • Students who haven’t received the email yet, don’t worry — IITs are sending mails according to different dates.
  • If your reporting date is around 24th or 25th July, keep checking the website and email regularly for updates.

A tip for NIT/IIIT/GFTI students:

Even if you have got admission in an NIT under JoSAA, it can still be beneficial to participate in CSAB counseling. You may get a better branch or college. So do register for CSAB.

Final words:

Admission to IIT is a big opportunity and to avoid any mistake, it is important that you keep all the documents ready on time and in the right manner. Keep getting the latest information from the website of the respective IIT. Be prepared for physical reporting, and follow all the instructions.
