Maximum Previous Seats Allotted in Fourth Round
After the fifth round of JoSAA counseling seat allocation for 62853 seats in 127 institutes including IITs and NITs, those who have been allotted college seats for the first time will have to upload the required documents and pay the seat acceptance fee by 5 pm on 14th July and report online.
In the fifth round of seat allocation, maximum previous seats have been allotted and no upgrades have been seen in many colleges and branches.
According to education expert of ALLEN Career Institute, students who are not satisfied with their allotted IIT seat till the fifth round of JoSAA counseling and are willing to appear in JEE Advanced-2026 exam next year, they are required to get their IIT seat withdrawn by the scheduled date of 14th July at 5 pm, otherwise they will not be able to appear in JEE-Advanced exam next year.
Provided such students fulfill other eligibility of JEE-Advanced exam. The condition of leaving the allotted seat applies only to JEE-Advanced exam for admission in IIT, whereas the compulsion to leave or not leave the seat allotted from NIT system does not apply to the eligibility to appear in JEE-Advanced and JEE-Main next year.

Education expert said that there is a lot of confusion among the students regarding the seat withdrawal process of IIT-NIT. The seat withdrawal process of IIT and NIT is different.
The sixth round of JoSAA counseling for IIT is the final round, so those students who are willing to take JEE-Advanced-2025 next year as well and are not satisfied with their allotted IIT seat, they must withdraw their allotted IIT seat by 5 pm on July 14 before the sixth round seat allocation, otherwise they will not be able to appear for JEE-Advanced exam next year.
Whereas NIT-IIIT seat withdrawal is possible even after the sixth round seat allocation of JoSAA. Students who are not satisfied with their allotted NIT-IIIT colleges and want to withdraw their seat acceptance fee by leaving their seat, such students can withdraw their fees from 16th to 21st July at 5 pm.

These students will have to withdraw by giving the reason for withdrawal on the option given on the JoSAA website. JoSAA will refund the remaining fee after deducting Rs. 7000.
Students have the last chance to withdraw their seat, after which no seat or fee will be withdrawn.
Students should take the decision of withdrawing their allotted NIT-IIIT seats only after keeping in mind the complete information about the eligibility of CSAB counseling for the vacant seats of NIT and IIIT because all the students have the option of going to CSAB counseling by leaving or keeping their NIT and IIIT seat.
In such a situation, students should withdraw only when they are completely dissatisfied with their allotted seat, otherwise they will suffer a big loss if they do not get a seat in CSEB counseling.
