12 lakh 20 thousand 270 students of JEE-Main declared eligible for counseling
The schedule of Joint Counseling for admissions to a total of 97 engineering institutes in the country, 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 23 IITs and 20 GFTIs to be held by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has been released on its official website. According to the schedule issued, students can fill online registration and college branches by June 15. The last date for the selection of the choice is kept till June 26. On June 28, the first round of seat allocation will be done. The counseling process will be completed in seven rounds this year. Last year the counseling process lasted for four rounds. Significantly, 12 lakh 20 thousand 746 students sitting in the JEE-Main examination for admission to NITs, IIITs and GFTIs will be able to participate in the counseling.
On the other hand, students qualifying JEE Advanced will be able to participate in the Council for the admission to IIT by JEE-Advanced, Qualify. The process of admission to the IITs will be supervised by Joint Admission Board and IIT Madras and the entrance process to the NITs and IIITs will be supervised by Central Seat Allocation Board and NIT Jaipur.
Students will be able to fill the Choices of online registration and college branch for admission to the IIT, NIT and IIIT admissions from June 15 to 26, and students will have the option of filling Choice of more than 600 programs. After the first seat allocation, the student will have to report along with necessary documents to the Reporting Center by paying the admission fee. For post IIT allotment, reporting centers have been set up in 17 IITs and 38 NITs and IIITs. Students will be able to withdraw the accepted seat by reporting it to the Reporting Center before the seventh round.
416 seats increased in IIT
This year, students may get into 3 new IITS through their JEE-Main scores. Ministry of Human Resource Development has increased the number of IIIT from 20 to 23 where admissions will begin in Bhagalpur, Bhopal and Surat from this year. There will be 120 seats each in Bhagalpur and Surat and 180 seats in IIT Bhopal. Moreover 416 seats have been increased in the IITs too. This year, admission will be given to 10988 seats in IIT as compared to 10572 seats last year.
