A Child who is an Indian Citizen and residing in India and is above the age of (+5) years and not exceeding 18 years (as on 31st August of the respective year) can apply for the PMRBP
The well-being of children is imperative for national development and it is the responsibility of the country to provide adequate opportunity and support for the holistic growth and development of children as mandated by the Constitution of India. The hopes and aspirations of the children are to be acknowledged and their achievements are to be rewarded.
Although every child is precious and his or her achievements have to be appreciated, there are some whose achievements will serve as an inspiration to many others. Towards this end, the Bal Shakti Puraskar is given by the Government of India every year to recognize exceptional achievements of our children in various fields i.e., innovation, scholastic achievements, social service, arts & culture, sports, and bravery. Also, to recognize the contribution of dedicated individuals and institutions, whose tireless efforts complement the actions taken by the Government of India for the welfare of children, the Bal Kalyan Puraskar was instituted and is given in two categories – Individual and Institution.
The National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement was instituted in 1996 to give recognition to children with exceptional abilities and outstanding achievements in the fields of innovation, scholastic achievements, social service, arts & culture, and sports. A medal and a cash prize are given to each awardee. In the year 2018, the award has been renamed the Bal Shakti Puraskar and the achievements of children in the field of bravery are also acknowledged.
The National Child Welfare Awards were instituted in 1979 to give recognition to those who have made outstanding contributions in the fields of Child Development, Child Protection, and Child Welfare. It is important to recognize such individuals and institutions as they help complement the efforts of the Government. In the year 2018, the award was renamed Bal Kalyan Puraskar. This Award is given in two categories – Individual and Institution. Three awards are given in each of these two categories along with cash prizes.
Any child with exceptional achievement in the fields of innovation, scholastic achievements, social service, arts & culture, sports, and bravery can apply for the award. Also, any person who knows about a meritorious achievement by a child can recommend this child for the award. A high-level committee selects the winners after careful consideration of each application. Medal, Cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000/-, Certificate, and citation are given to the award-winning students. The number of Awardees is decided as per the decision of the National Selection Committee. The Awards were announced on December 26 on ‘Veer Bal DivasThe number. The awards are conferred in the week preceding Republic day organized by the Ministry of Child and women development.
