KVPY 2018 Admission Update: Exam Date, Application Form, Admit Card, Syllabus and Eligibility Criteria

KVPY 2018 is a national fellowship programme conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) was started by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India to provide scholarship up to pre-Ph.D level to selected students in 1999. The selection procedure is based on the aptitude test & interview managed by the IISc. Some of the bullet points for KVPY 2018 has been mentioned below:

KVPY 2018 like previous KVPY exams will be conducted stream-wise. Following are the streams with a distinct syllabus:

KVPY Exam pattern – Stream SA

For this stream, the paper consists of two parts – Part I & II which will consist of multiple choice questions. All sections in both papers are compulsory to attempt. The entire test is of 100 marks.

Eligibility (for SA):

  1. Candidates have to pass class 10th with Mathematics & Science subjects & secure minimum 75% marks (65% marks for SC/ST/PwD) in aggregate.
  2. Candidates who studied in Class 11th (science stream) must apply for this exam.

KVPY Exam pattern – Stream SB/SX

For this stream, the paper consists of two parts – Part I & II. All sections here are not compulsory to attempt. In Part I, candidates can choose to attempt any 3 sections. In Part II, candidates can attempt any 2 sections of the 4 sections asked. The questions are of multiple choice type here as well. The entire test is of 100 marks (60 + 40 marks).  In PART I, 0.25 marks will be deducted for incorrect answer. In PART II, 0.5 marks will be deducted for the wrong response.

Eligibility (for SX):

  1. Candidates have to score minimum 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwD) in aggregate in Mathematics & Science subjects (PCB) in Class 12th. Candidates also have to obtain at least 75% marks (65% marks in case of SC/ST/PwD) in aggregate in class 10th.
  2. Candidates, those studied in class 12th (science subjects) can apply.

 

Eligibility (for SB):

  1. Candidates have to score at least 60% marks (50% marks in case of SC/ST/PwD category) in 10+2 examination.
  2. Candidates who enrolled in the 1st year of the UG programme in Basic Science (Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics & Biology) leading to B.Sc/BS/B.Math./B.Stat./MS/Int. M.Sc) can apply for this exam.
