Landmark decision by govt. to provide 27% reservation for OBC and 10% for EWS in MBBS/ MD /MS /BDS /MDS/ DIPLOMA courses.
The Central Government has approved 27% reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBC) and 10% reservation for economically weaker sections (EWS) in MBBS/ MD /MS /BDS /MDS/ DIPLOMA courses. It was announced on Thursday and will be implemented from the current academic year (2021-22).
Sh Brajesh Maheshwari Sir, Co-Founder Director of ALLEN Career Institute, said, This decision will benefit around 1,500 OBC students in MBBS and 2,500 OBC students in postgraduate every year. Also, 550 EWS students in MBBS and around 1,000 EWS students in post-graduation will get benefitted every year from this move.
He further added, During the last six years, MBBS seats in the country have increased from 54,308 seats in 2014 to 84,649 seats in 2020. Similarly, the number of PG seats has risen from 30,191 seats in 2014 to 54,275 seats in 2020. Today there are 558 medical colleges in the country, out of which 289 are government and 269 are private medical colleges.
