NATIONAL GIRL CHILD DAY 2022: KNOW ITS HISTORY, SIGNIFICANCE & PURPOSE

The National Girl Child Day intends to create awareness about rights of the Girl Child and make their living better

With the aim of extending support and opportunities to the girls of India, National Girl Child Day is celebrated in the country on January 24 every year. The motto of the National Girl Child Day is to promote awareness about the rights of the girl child, importance of girl education, girl child health and their nutrition. The National Girl Child Day also intends to promote the girls position in the society to make their living better among the society.

WHY NATIONAL GIRL CHILD DAY IS CELEBRATED ON 24 JANUARY 2022

The Union Ministry of Women and Child Development and the government of India initiated it in the year 2008 to make people more aware of the inequalities that girls confront in Indian culture.

Every year on 24 January, the Girl Child Day is celebrated for a specific reason. India Gandhi is the foundation of this reason. Indira Gandhi became India’s first female Prime when she was sworn in in 1966. The date of 24 January, thus, enjoys special significance in Indian history

Gender discrimination is a major problem that girls or women face throughout their life.

KINDS OF DISCRIMINATION WITH GIRL CHILD

There are many ways in which a girl is discriminated against right from womb to tomb. Violence against women and girls takes many different forms, including domestic violence, sexual assault, and harassment, early and forced marriage, sex trafficking, so-called ‘honor’ crimes, and female genital mutilation. COVID-19 has exposed the fault lines of gender equality, with increases in the incidence of domestic violence during the lockdown.

OBJECTIVES OF NATIONAL GIRL CHILD DAY

The objective of National Girl Child Day is to create awareness about the rights a girl owns and to give girls the opportunities like everyone else, also to support the girl child of the nation and remove gender-based biases. Another objective of celebrating this day is to promote awareness about the inequalities that a girl child faces and educate people about girl’s education. Basically to value them and to respect them like everybody else and give a new perspective towards girl child and to decrease discrimination. The main focus is on changing society’s attitude towards girls, decrease female feticide and create awareness about the decreasing sex ratio.

ALLEN PLAYED ITS ROLE IN SUPPORTING GIRL CHILD

Large number of girls study at Allen Career Institute to make their future bright. Care of every girl student is taken at Allen. Since the inception of Allen Career Institute till date, large numbers of girl students have accomplished their dreams of cracking medical and engineering entrance examinations with the help of Allen and played crucial role in nation building by becoming doctors, engineers, civil servants and professionals.

INSPIRING STORY OF BALIKA VADHU WHO CRACKED NEET

-The story of a Child bride of Rajasthan, Rupa Yadav is truly inspirational.  She was married at the age of 8 years in Kerari a village of Chomu region of Jaipur but she did not let her dreams fade away as she cracked NEET-UG with AIR-2612 in the year 2017 with the guidance of Allen and later got admitted to Medical College in Bikaner. Preparing for NEET-UG was not easy for her as she had to take time out of her household chores for studying at home. Weak financial conditions of husband’s family was a deterrent but she crossed all roadblocks with the support of her husband, in-laws.
