Official Notice and Changes in JEE Main 2020 Pattern by NTA: Read complete details here

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is the national level undergraduate engineering entrance exam for admissions in the undergraduate engineering programs at the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and other centrally funded technical institutions (CFTIs). After clearing the JEE Main exam, candidate gets eligible for appearing in JEE advanced which is the entrance exam for admissions to programs offered by the IITs.

JEE Main 2020 will be conducted twice, in January and April. It will be organized in two papers – Paper 1 is for B.E & B.Tech and Paper 2 is for B.Arch & B.Planning.

The registration for JEE Main 2020 conducted by NTA in the second consecutive year, has begun on 3rd September 2019. In the Official notification released on the website (nta.ac.in), the JEE Main 2020 exam pattern has been incurred certain modifications.

 

Updated JEE Main 2020 Exam Pattern

As per the latest notification by NTA, the JEE Main 2020 paper will have 75 questions. The number of questions has reduced and has been abridged by 15 questions and 60 marks. Till 2019, a total of 30 MCQs were asked each from Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. From 2020 onwards, the total number of questions for Paper I would be 20 MCQs + 5 Questions with an answer as a numerical value.

Mode Of Examination

  • JEE (Main)-2020 will be conducted in the following modes:

    a) B.E. /B. Tech. in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only.
    b) B. Arch: Mathematics- Part I and Aptitude Test-Part II in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only and Drawing Test –Part III in “Pen & Paper Based” (offline) mode to be attempted on drawing a sheet of A4 size.
    c) B.Planning: Mathematics- Part I, Aptitude Test-Part II and Planning Based Questions Part III in “Computer Based Test (CBT)” mode only

Choice of Medium of Question Papers

  1. The medium of Question Paper shall be in English, Hindi, and Gujarati.
  2. The option of question paper language should be exercised while filling up the Application Form and it cannot be changed at a later stage.
  3. Please note that for the correctness of the questions in all the question papers, the English version will be taken as final.
