Section I (Changes for NEET (UG) – 2023)

When Candidates register, they have to enter the OTP received at their registered Mobile Number, and before submitting the fees, they have to enter the OTP received at their registered e-mail address.

‘Mobile Number’ and ‘E-mail ID’ need to be verified through OTP. Please understand that this is a very important step. Same ‘Mobile Number’ and ‘E-mail ID’ will be utilized for counselling purpose. Students are required to keep it alive and not close it before the counselling process ends.

If the ‘Mobile Number’ is international, then an additional number also needs to be provided.

Mobile number and e-mail address of parent are also being taken and these will be mandatory.

While filling up the Online Application Form, candidates should select two Convenient Cities from Appendix-V as their Choice of Cities for the exam Centre in order of their priority.

As far as possible, the exam centres are allotted as per the choice of cities of the candidates made in their online Application form.

Though every effort will be made to allot a Centre in one of the cities selected by the candidate, the NTA reserves the right to allot a centre in a city other than the candidate’s choice.

Allotment of Centres will be done mostly in one of the preferred cities of the candidates and there will be no human intervention.

Option is being given to the Candidate for Scribe. Either NTA may provide or Candidate may bring his/her own Scribe.

Facility of Scribe will also be given to the PwBD candidates with disability less than 40% as per the Section 2(s) of RPwD Act, 2016

All candidates will be required to upload address proof (Present and permanent address) during the online Application Form of NEET (UG) – 2023.

The address proof may include AADHAAR Card, Domicile Certificate,Passport, Voter ID card, etc. Both documents (proof of Permanent and Present address) are to be merged and uploaded in a single pdf file.

If the Present and Permanent addresses are same, then the same document will suffice. If a candidate is staying in a rented accommodation, he/she can upload Rent agreement for proof of present address.

Along with the installation of Jammers and CCTV cameras at all examination Centres, it is proposed that additional GPS may be used for locking the trunks in order to enhance the security and secrecy.

For Section A (MCQs): If none of the options is found correct or a Question is found to be wrong or a Question is dropped then full marks will be awarded to all candidates who have appeared irrespective of the fact whether the question has been attempted or not attempted by the candidate.

For Section B (MCQs): If a question is found to be incorrect or the Questionis dropped then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question. The reason could be due to human error or technical error.

Candidates opting for English/Hindi/Regional Languages would be provided Test Booklet in English + Hindi + selected Regional Language. For Example: If a candidate opted Tamil (out of 13 anguages), the Test Booklet would be provided in English + Hindi + Tamil.

 

NTA is facilitating to all candidates with an additional platform of UMANG and DigiLocker to download their documents like Confirmation Page, Admit Card, Score Cards, etc.

Umang App:
You can download UMANG Mobile Application from Android Play Store or Apple App Store. Open Mobile Application and search for National Testing Agency (NTA). Select your examination and enter the desired details. Example: Select NEET (UG) 2023 -> Enter Application Number & Date of Birth -> Download Confirmation Page

DigiLocker:
You can download DigiLocker Mobile Application from Android Play Store or Apple App Store. Open Mobile Application and search for National Testing Agency (NTA). Select your examination and enter the desired details.

The scanned copy of the original OMR Answer Sheet and Score Card of the Candidates of NEET (UG) will be kept in the safe custody of DigiLocker [maintained by the Ministry of Electronics and Information

Technology (MeitY)] for the easy access of the same by the respective candidates at https://digilocker.gov.in, on the basis of their consent given at the time of submission of online application.

The benefits of DigiLocker includes the following:

1. Candidates can access their documents, such as, Confirmation page
of the online Application Form, Admit Card, OMR Answer Sheet,
Score Card etc. anytime and anywhere from their respective
DigiLocker. This is convenient and time saving.
2. In case a Candidate forgets his User ID or Password to access
required information / data from NEET (UG) Portal, he/ she can easily
retrieve his/ her Application No. / Registered Mobile No. from his / her
DigiLocker account and access the portal.
3. DigiLocker makes it easier for the Candidates to validate the
authenticity of their documents as they are issued directly by the
registered issuers.

Self-uploaded documents can be digitally signed using the eSign facility (which is similar to the process of self-attestation).

Section-II (General Queries)

The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) (UG) is being conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) since 2019 with the approval of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Human Resource Development (which is now known as the Ministry of Education), in pursuance of the direction of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India vide Judgement dated 22.11. 2018 in C.A. No. 11230 of 2018 in the matter of CBSE Vs. T.K. Rangarajan & Ors. (Para 22).

The NEET (UG) – 2023 is going to be conducted by NTA as per the Schedule given in the Information at a Glance for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, and BHMS Courses as per the relevant norms/guidelines/regulations notified by the concerned Regulatory Bodies of the Indian System of Medicine in all Medical Institutions governed under this Act.

The responsibility of NTA is limited to inviting online applications, the conduct of the entrance test, declaration of the result, and providing All India Rank (AIR) to the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

The Online Application Form for NEET (UG) – 2023 is available from 06.03.2023 to 06.04.2023 (up to 09:00 PM) on the website https://neet.nta.nic.in/.

Date of Examination: 07 May 2023 (Sunday) Duration of Examination: 02:00 PM to 05:20 PM (Indian Standard Time)

NEET (UG) – 2023 is a Pen & Paper-based Test, that needs to be answered on the specially designed machine gradable OMR sheet using Ball Point Pen.

Yes, instructions to apply online for NEET (UG) – 2023 are available in the Information Bulletin under the heading ‘Important Information at Glance’.

Family Annual Income (inclusive of Father’s/ Guardian’s Gross Annual Income, Mother’s/ Guardian’s Gross Annual Income, and Annual Income of Father’s/ Mother’s/ Guardian’s from other sources, if any) is a mandatory field.

A copy of the Confirmation Page, Scanned copy of OMR and a copy of the Score Card will be sent to the registered e-mail address of the candidates.

For ease of the candidates, Application Form has been upgraded so that candidates can fill the Application Form in small sections.

The updated process is as below –

3 – Fee Payment.

A provision has been explored for cross-checking of the photograph in real-time during filling in the Online Application Form.

A column/field has been added in the Online Application Form for capturing the AADHAAR number of the candidates and it will be on a voluntary basis.

There will be Negative Marking for both Sections i.e. Section A and Section B.

Duration of Examination will be 200 minutes (03:20 hours) from 02:00 PM to 05:20 PM (Indian Standard Time) and shall be uniform for all candidates.

In case of two or more candidates obtaining equal marks/percentile scores in the NEET (UG) – 2023, the inter-semerit shall be determined as follows:

a. Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the Test, followed by,
b. Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Chemistry in the Test, followed by,
c. Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in Physics in the Test, followed by,
d. Candidate with less proportion of the number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all the subjects in the Test,
e. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the Test, followed by
f. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Chemistry in the Test, followed by
g. Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Physics in the Test, followed by
h. Candidate Older in Age, followed by
i. Application Number in ascending order

Candidates need to upload their both Left and Right hands impression of Fingers and thumbs as per Appendix-XIX

Candidates are not required to send/submit any document(s) including Confirmation Page to NTA through Post/Fax/WhatsApp/Email/by Hand.

Yes, GEN-EWS/SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD candidates are required to upload original certificates as per prescribed formats issued by the Competent Authority of their respective State. In case, any candidate does not have the certificate readily available with him/her, he/she can upload the self undertaking as available in the Information Bulletin.

As far as possible, the exam centres are allotted as per the choice of cities of the candidates made in their online Application form.

As per the instructions given to the candidates for filling up their Online Application Form, they are supposed to fill up their particulars in the same care and NTA is not responsible for any mistake committed by them in this regard.

Online Application forms once submitted successfully cannot be cancelled/ withdrawn.

For each Application, the e-mail address and Mobile Number will be unique.

The Confirmation Page of the online Application Form will be generated only after successful payment of the fee by the Candidate. A copy of the Confirmation Page of NEET (UG) – 2023 will be sent to the registered e-mail address of the Candidates.

City of allotted Examination Centre cannot be changed, in any case.

Choice of Centre Cities will be limited to the State of Permanent Address or State of Present Address only.

Candidate has to upload the scanned images of the following in JPG /PDF format only, for uploading the same as part of the submission of his/her online application:

  1. Latest Passport size Photograph in JPG format (size: 10 kb to 200 kb)
  2. Post Card size photograph (4” X 6”) in JPG format (Size: 10 kb – 200 kb)  Signature in JPG format (size: 4 kb to 30 kb)
  3. Left and Right Hands Fingers impressions in JPG format (file size: 10 kb to 200 kb). Format for Left & Right hands impression to capture both hand impressions of the candidate for NEET 2023.
  4. Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/GEN-EWS etc.) in PDF format (file size: 50 kb to 300 kb)
  5. PwBD certificate in PDF format (file size: 50 kb to 300 kb)
  6. Embassy/Citizenship certificate in PDF format (file size: 50 kb to 300 kb)
  7. Class X passed certificate in PDF format (file size: 50 kb to 300 kb).
  8. The size of address proof of present address and permanent address in PDF format should be between 50 kb to 300 kb (clearly legible).

The candidate will be required to bring the following to the Examination Centre:

  1. Admit Card
  2. Additional passport size photograph same as uploaded on Application Form, which you need to paste on Attendance Sheet
  3. One Postcard size (4’’X 6”) color photograph affixed on the designated space (page 2) downloaded from the NTA website (a clear print out on A4 size paper) with white background should be pasted on the Proforma downloaded with the Admit Card and should be handed over to Invigilator at the Centre duly filled in
  4. Any Valid Photo Identification Proof issued by the government” – PAN card/ Driving License/ Voter ID/ 12th Class Board Admit or Registration card/ Passport/ Aadhaar Card (With photograph)/ E-Aadhaar/Ration Card/ Aadhaar Enrolment No. with Photo. All other ID/Photocopies of IDs even if attested/scanned photo of IDs in mobile phone will NOT be considered as valid ID Proof),
  5. Personal transparent water bottle.
  6. You need to carry PwBD Certificate, if applicable Note: Candidate who does not bring the downloaded proforma with postcard size (4”X6”) photograph pasted and one passport size photograph will not be allowed to sit in the examination and shall lead to his/her disqualification. You are NOT ALLOWED to carry any personal belongings including electronic devices, mobile phones and other banned/ prohibited items listed in the Information Bulletin to the Examination Centre. Examination Officials will not be responsible for the safe keep of personal belongings and there will be no facility.

No, the candidate will not be allowed to leave the examination hall/room before the test concludes.

No, the syllabus of NEET (UG) – 2023 is the same as that of the last year. The syllabus is available in the Information Bulletin available on the website https://neet.nta.nic.in/ Please do not be misled by false information and fake Notice. Note: NMC (National Medical Commission) has notified the syllabus of NEET (UG). The Question Paper will be based on the given syllabus (Appendix-III) which is available on the NMC website (https://www.nmc.org.in/neet/neet-ug).

The result of NEET (UG) – 2023 will be uploaded on the NTA website www.nta.ac.in and https://neet.nta.nic.in/ as per schedule. However, a copy of the Scorecard of NEET (UG) – 2023 will be sent to the registered e-mail address of the Candidates

Section – III Eligibility Criteria

The students who have received education abroad and wish to seek admission into medical colleges in India must have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English with 50% marks in class 12 and their equivalency determined by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) as per regulations of the Medical Council of India and the concerned University. For more details refer to the Information Bulletin

Indian Nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), and Foreign Nationals are eligible for 15% of All India Quota Seats.

Candidates who have passed Class 12 from Open School or as private candidates shall not be eligible to appear for the ‘National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test’. Furthermore, a study of Biology/Biotechnology as an Additional Subject at Class 12 level also shall not be permissible.*

*The candidates who have passed Class 12 level with Biology as an additional subject will also be eligible for MBBS Entrance Examination (as per Hon’ble High Court Order No. 2341/- W/DHC/WRIT/D-1/2019 dated 24/09/2019 in the Writ Petition (C) No. 6773/2019.

*(NOTE: The proviso in italics has been a subject matter of challenge before the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi, Hon’ble High Court of Allahabad, Lucknow Bench, and Hon’ble High Court of Madhya Pradesh at Jabalpur. The provisions of the regulations disqualifying recognized Open School Board candidates and the candidates who have studied Biology/Biotechnology as an Additional Subject has been struck down. The Medical Council of India has preferred Special Leave Petitions before the Hon’ble Supreme Court and Appeals in the Hon’ble High Courts. Therefore, the candidature of candidates in the NEET (UG) – 2023 who have passed the qualifying examinations i.e. Class 12 from National Institute of Open Schooling or State Open Schools or as private candidates from recognized State Boards; or with Biology/Biotechnology as an additional subject shall be allowed but subject to the outcome of Special Leave Petitions/Appeals filed by the Medical Council of India)

To be eligible for NEET (UG) – 2023, candidates need to refer to the Qualifications and Qualifying Examination Codes mentioned in Para 5.4, chapter 5 of the Information Bulletin of NEET (UG) – 2023.

Those candidates who have passed class XII should fill Code [02 to 07] against the column provided for the Qualifying Examination. If a candidate does not fall within the qualifications prescribed as per Code numbers 02 to 07, then the candidate needs to furnish complete details under the column ‘others’. Candidates appearing in Class 12 in 2023 should select a qualifying code as 01.

Eligibility for appearing in NEET (UG) is as per related Regulations is as follows: –

  1. Lower Age limit: He/she has completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete that age on or before 31 December of the year of his/her admission to the first year Undergraduate Medical Courses.
  2. Upper Age limit: As per Letter No. U-11022/2/2022- UGMEB, dated 09 March 2022 received from National Medical Commission (NMC), Under Graduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) regarding the upper age limit, there is no upper age limit. For more details, please refer to Chapter 5 of the Information Bulletin.

Medium of Question Paper:

  1. The facility of Scribe, in case he/she has a physical limitation and a scribe is essential to write the examination on his/her behalf, being so certified in the aforesaid format by a CMO/Civil Surgeon/ Medical Superintendent of a Government Health Care Institution.
  2. Compensatory time of one hour five minutes for examination of three hours twenty minutes (03:20 hrs) duration for PwBD Candidate [having a physical limitation to write] will be given, whether such candidate uses the facility of Scribe or not.

Yes, for admission to MBBS seats against MEA Quota, the candidate needs to appear for NEET (UG).

In this regard, please follow the rules of relevant admitting institutions.

Such candidates are required to put 000000 in the field of Pin Code.

Section-IV Fee/Payment Queries

The examination fee for NEET (UG) – 2023 can be remitted in
the following manner:

Through any Debit/Credit/UPI Card using SBI/Canara/HDFC/ICICI/ on-line gateway payment facility/Net Banking.

If the payment status of an online transaction (by credit/debit card) is not communicated by the payment gateway in real time then fee payment is not completed and the candidate will not be able to download the Acknowledgement page. In this case, the candidate is required to pay the fee again through online mode and download the acknowledgment page. The amount due to failed transaction of credit/debit card will be refunded back after the declaration of the result of NEET (UG) – 2023.

The candidate may go through the Appendix-XVIII(given in Information Bulletin) to know procedure for Online Payment of Fee and Helpline for payment related queries.

Section V – Queries Regarding Address Proof

Yes. The Ministry of Education, Govt. of India vide its O.M. F.No.35-9/2016-TS.III MHRD dated 21st December 2018 has approved that the selection for Admission of students under Direct Admission of Students ABROAD (DASA) will be through JEE (Main). This may be applicable from academic year 2022-23 onwards. The NTA has been conducting JEE (Main) on Computer Based Test (CBT) in India and Abroad for Admission to undergraduate courses in IITs, NITs, IIITs, CFTIs. The Admission for DASA is done on the basis of Rank obtained in JEE(Main) from the Academic Session 2022-23.

Such candidates are required to put 000000 in the field of Pin Code.

Yes, B. Tech/ B. Arch Scores of JEE (Main) – 2023 may also be used for admission to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow, MMMUT, Gorakhpur and other Institution / University.

Yes, Divyangjan candidates are permitted to use a Scribe or allowed Compensatory time or both as given below :

a. The facility of Scribe, in case he/she has a physical limitation and a scribe is essential to write the examination on his/her behalf, beingso certified in the prescribed format(Annexure IV to VIII ) by a CMO/Civil Surgeon/ Medical Superintendent of a Govt. Health Care Institution.

b. Compensatory time of one hour for examination of three hours duration, whether such candidate uses the facility of Scribe or not. For more details, please refer to the Information Bulletin of JEE (Main) – 2023 which is available at NTA website: jeemain.nta.nic.in

State code of eligibility means the code of the State from where the candidate has passed Class 12 (or equivalent) qualifying examination by virtue of which the candidate becomes eligible to appear in JEE (Main) 2023. If a candidate has passed Class 12 (or equivalent) qualifying examination from one State but appeared for improvement from another State, the candidate’s State code of eligibility will be from where the candidate first passed the Class XII.

  1. Candidate passed/appearing class 12th from NIOS should select the State of Eligibility according to the State in which the study centre is located.
  2. For Indian nationals passing the Class XII (or equivalent) examination from Nepal/Bhutan, the State code of eligibility will be determined based on a permanent address in India as given in the passport of the candidate.
  3. The State code of eligibility of OCI passing Class XII (or equivalent) examination in India is at par with Indian nationals. However, OCI passing the Class XII (or equivalent) examination from an institution abroad are eligible for Other State quota seats or All India quota seats (but NOT for Home State quota seats) in all NITs, IITTs and Other-CFTIs

Yes, drawing from the National Education Policy (NEP), the JEE (Main) – 2023 will be conducted in Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam,Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu in addition to Hindi and English.

A candidate has a choice to appear in one or both sessions. He/ she will be awarded NTA score in each session based on his performance. The candidate’s best NTA Scores of all the sessions in which he/ she has appeared will be considered for preparation of Merit List/ Ranking.

You can select any five questions, you wish to answer. You are also allowed to change the answers to the selected questions before final submission. You can select questions different from the ones selected by you earlier and answer them before the final submission of the Question Paper. At any point in time, you will be permitted to answer only five questions in Section-B.

The Question Paper has been divided into two sections. There will be 90 Questions in the Paper 1 and candidates will be required to attempt 75 questions only. There will be negative marking for 15 optional questions. Paper-wise details are as follows:

  1. Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.): Each Subject will have two sections. Section A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In Section B, candidates have to attempt any five questions out of 10. There will be negative marking for both Section A and Section B.
  2. Paper 2A (B. Arch.): Part -1 will have two sections. Section A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numerical value. In Section B, candidates have to attempt any five questions out of 10. There will be negative marking for both Section A and Section B. Part II (Aptitude Test) will have 50 MultipleChoice Questions (MCQs). Part III (Drawing Test) will have two questions to be attempted on Drawing Sheet.
  3. Paper 2B (B. Planning) – Part -1 will have two sections. Section A will be of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) and Section B will contain Questions whose answers are to be filled in as a numericalvalue. In Section B, candidates have to attempt any five questions out of 10. There will be negative marking for both Section A and Section B. Part II (Aptitude Test) will have 50 Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs). Part III (Planning based question) will have 25 Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs).

For appearing in the JEE (Main) – 2023, there is no age limit for the candidates. The candidates who have passed the class 12/equivalent examination in 2021, 2022, or appearing in 2023 irrespective of their age can appear in JEE (Main) – 2023 examination. However, the candidates may be required to fulfill the age criteria of the Institute(s) in which they are desirous of taking admission.

Only those candidates who have passed the Class 12/equivalent examination in 2021, 2022, or those who are appearing in Class 12/equivalent examination in 2023, are eligible to appear in JEE (Main) – 2023.

Section – V Fee/Payment Queries

For present address, candidate can upload his / her School ID Card, Rent agreement, Bank Passbook etc.

For permanent address, candidate can upload AADHAAR Card, Passport, Voter ID, domicile certificate, Ration Card, Electicity Bill / Water Bill, etc.

An Affidavit can be made from Court mentioning that the candidate is staying in this address for a specific period may be uploaded for proof of present address in case a candidate is not able to upload AADHAAR Card / School ID Card / Rent Agreement / Bank Passbook, etc.

If present and permanent addresses are same, then one document will suffice.

Proof of Present and permanent addresses are to be merged in a single pdf file and that file is to be uploaded once. The size of pdf file should be from 50 to 300 kB

If a candidate is staying in a rented accommodation, then a valid rent  agreement may be used for uploading as a proof of present address.

In case, Guardian / Mother / Father got transferred in another city and candidate is staying with him / her, then certificate from Guardian / Father / Mother can be used as an Address proof for Present address?
