How to Prepare for ‘Current Affairs Including General Knowledge’ Section for CLAT?

Preparing for Current Affairs Including GK for CLAT

Often students are confused on how to start their preparation for the General Knowledge (GK) section for CLAT. Following are some easy steps to prepare a handy plan for you to ace this section in CLAT.

Start Reading a Good Newspaper

  • General Knowledge (GK ) section tests your knowledge of current affairs of 10-12 months before the exam.
  • Going through newspapers like ‘The Hindu’ or ‘Indian Express’ will help you prepare for current affairs.
  • Note that you need not go through all the pages or all the articles in the newspaper. You need to be selective and go through only relevant articles for CLAT.
  • At ALLEN ACE CLAT we provide our students a list of important articles from both these newspapers on a daily basis.

Focus on the Background

  • Going through the current events is not enough. One needs to research and understand the background behind every important development.
  • For example you may have read an article about BRICS Summit. But you also need to know about BRICS forum, Origin of BRICS, New Development Bank etc.
  • Good notes on current affairs come handy in such cases.
  • At ALLEN ACE CLAT we provide our students with GK Impact: a comprehensive fortnightly magazine to cover all important current affairs with their background.

Don’t Ignore the Static GK

  • Off late we have seen a reduction in direct questions from Static GK in both CLAT and AILET. Nevertheless, they are still asked as background questions associated with current affairs.
  • Important Topics from the Constitution, Economy, and Modern History must be prepared to avoid any unpleasant surprises.

Revision…Revision….Revision

  • Since the examination requires you to memories a lot of facts, revision is the key to retain whatever you have previously studied.
  • Make sure you have a proper revision plan for your current affairs preparation.
  • Frequent testing can help you revise your syllabus in a continuous manner.

Quality Mocks

  • Good quality mocks simulating the real examination experience can go a long way in helping you prepare for the exam.
  • At ALLEN ACE CLAT we strive to provide the best in industry mocks under our Lakshya CLAT Test Series.
  • All the elements mentioned above are essential to be fully prepared for the GK section in CLAT. Make sure you follow the above plan and achieve the success you deserve.
