The result of Regional Mathematical Olympiad has been declared by Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE). RMO 2018 exam was held on 7th October. Candidates who appeared in Regional Mathematical Olympiad 2018 can check their result now.
Regional Mathematical Olympiad is the second round of International Mathematical Olympiad. 108 Students of ALLEN are selected for Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO). The students who qualify RMO are eligible for Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO), which is scheduled to be held on 20th January 2019. Total 1110 students from all over India are selected for INMO out of which 108 students are from ALLEN (as per result compiled so far). 77 students are from ALLEN Classroom Programme, 5 from Dlp and 26 are from Workshop Programme.
The Mathematical Olympiad Programme in India, which leads to participation of Indian students in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is organized by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) on behalf of the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM) of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India. This programme is one of the major initiatives undertaken by the NBHM. Its main purpose is to spot mathematical talent among pre-university students in the country.
The Mathematical Olympiad programme consists of six stages. The first stage is Pre-Regional Mathematical Olympiad, the second stage is Regional Mathematical Olympiad, the third stage is Indian National Mathematical Olympiad.
The top students from the INMO (approximately 35) are invited for the fourth stage, the International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC) held at HBCSE during April to May. At this camp, orientation is provided to students for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). Emphasis is laid on developing conceptual foundations and problem-solving skills. Several selection tests are held during this camp. On the basis of performance in these tests, six students are selected to represent India at the IMO.
The fifth stage is IMO Training Camp in which the selected team undergoes a rigorous training programme for about 8-10 days at HBCSE prior to its departure for the IMO. The last stage is the International Mathematical Olympiad, the Olympiad programme culminates with the participation of the students in the IMO.
After IMOTC total 6 students will be selected for Pre-Departure Camp and they will represent India at 60th IMO which will be conducted at Bath, United Kingdom in July 2019.
