ALLEN Student Krishna Kumar Cracks IIT-JEE 2016

A native of Bihar’s Paroriya village in Samastipur,  18 year old Basant’s happiness knows no bound these days. He has achieved 3769 rank in OBC category in the Prestigious IIT JEE 2016 exam. But whats more valuable to him is the success of his elder brother Krishan Kumar Pandit has bagged the All India Rank 38 in OBC, disabled quota (PWD) landing into IIT that too riding piggyback on Basant’s shoulders.

In a time when rivalry and enmity among brothers is a common phenomenon, Krishan Kumar and Basant Kumar, sons of a farmer and housewife mother, have set up an example for the entire nation. Both the brothers have been inseparably together since they started trotting.  As elder brother Krishan had suffered from polio while he was only six months, younger brother Basant, took his responsibility to take him out into the world, carrying him on his shoulders, even when they started going to school.

With dreams of becoming engineers, both of them arrived in Kota three years ago, and sought admission in ALLEN Career Institute for preparing for IIT entrance test. Here too, Krishan riding on the shoulders of his brother would get to the coaching classes and both of them used to study together. Both Basant and Krishan have now been successful in realizing their dreams but on the cost of separating from each other henceforth as both of them will get admission into separate engineering colleges…

Basant has always been my biggest strength. His dedication never let my disability come in way. He does everything for me, he rides me on his shoulders from home or hostel room to classes, helps me with my meals and much more” said Krishan. On the other hand, Basant with a heavy heart added that he feels very sad to think of living without him in the engineering colleges.

After failing in first attempt, they were called back by their father Madan Pandit who owns five bighas of land in the village, but their two elder brothers who work in a garage in Mumbai assured them financial aid to make sure they fulfill their dream. Following it, the management of Allen Career Institute exempted 75 percent of fees to each of them and gave them new hope.

Krishan reminisces how the institute waved off their 75% fees and gave them admission in the same batch, same class. 

Basant wants to join civil services after completing engineering while Krishan aspires to be a computer engineer.
