Salient Features of JoSAA
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2016 has been set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) to manage and regulate the joint seat allocation for admissions to 92 institutes for the academic year 2016-17. This includes 22 IITs, ISM, 31 NITs, 20 IIITs and 18 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). Admission to all the academic programs offered by these Institutes will be made through a single platform.
All the candidates who appeared for JEE (Main) 2016 / JEE (Advanced) 2016 should take note of the following important points:
Registration:
Withdraw option: A candidate, who has already accepted a seat, can withdraw the seat by reporting at a reporting center before the fourth round of seat allocation.

- Students should analyze on their own, the chances to get the desired branches on the basis of last year IIT’s, NIT’s, IIIT’s and GFTI’s opening and closing rank available on JOSAA website.
- Students should fill maximum of the desired branch of colleges in decreasing order (on the basis of preferences) because they will get this chance of online choice filling once only.
- Students should not fill their colleges preferences on the basis of last year closing ranks up to mark instead should fill maximum of the choices which are available below their closing rank also.
- Students should write the preferences first on paper and analyze them well and then only fill them online so that will fill it online none of the choice gets missed.
- Before locking the choices of branches check them well as once the choice is been locked, then changes is not at all possible.
