Tips & Tricks : Ideal Daily Schedule for JEE & NEET Aspirants to Achieve High AIR

Students who secure top AIR in the prestigious JEE and NEET exams, follow a very defined study pattern that helps them achieve the desired success. Toppers believe in carving their own path by seeking inspiration and guidance from other toppers.

There stand no sure-shot ways to follow that can help you get the same results as those of the toppers because everyone’s body clock is different. However, you can always stick to certain vital points and imbibe them in your daily study schedule to get the result you really want.

And to help you with that, Ashish Arora Sir, Academic Mentor, ALLEN Career Institute has shared the ideal daily schedule you should follow if you aspire to appear in JEE, NEET 2021 or 2022.

Ashish sir states that students study in the given two ways:
  • Self: This mode calls for self-study through watching YouTube videos or any type of online learning that doesn’t confide you to any particular coaching institute or learning platform. The information may come from various sources.
  • Guided: This type is mainly when you are studying under a coaching institute, and preparing for the exam under expert guidance and supervision.

Depending on the study type you follow, Ashish sir has further categorized the preparation schedule in macro and micro level. First let’s have a look at the Broad Level schedule.

Broad Level Schedule

  1. Learning: In self-study mode, the learning hours in a day should be minimum 6 hours while for guided learning your study hours should be 4-5 hours. If you happen to be in Class XI or Class XII then in guided learning your study hours a day should be somewhere around 3-4 hours only. It is beneficial to learn following the alternate coaching method because in the remaining alternate days you can get ample of practice. So, when choosing a coaching institute, always prefer the ones that provide 3 days or 4 days coaching. This will ensure you have a few days remaining in the week where you can practice.
  2. Self- Notes Making: Often it is seen that students make notes while learning, whether it is through classroom/digital coaching or self-study via video learning. However, the ideal way is to make self-notes once you have completed the particular class. When you make self-notes, your understanding of the topic widens. Self-note making combined with learning results in complete learning for you. You should invest 2 hours minimum in self-notes making in self-study and the same goes in guided learning. You should understand that the time given here is an estimate average, which in real time stands to be lesser than this. So, you get ample of time in doing other routine activities in a day like sleeping, eating etc.
  3. Practice: When it comes to practice in self-study then you should focus on 5-6 hours and with guided learning also, 5-6 hours practice is advisable.
  4. Sleep: In both the study modes, your sleep time should be 6-8 hours. Proper sleep is very crucial for the right functioning of your brain and health of your body.

Micro Level Schedule

  1. Learning: The learning hours as discussed in the broad level schedule don’t often adhere to suggested hours because they are never in your control. It’s better to keep them as rigid. Students who do self-study, should make it a habit to learn in the morning hours as your brain is more active during that time. For dropper students also the morning study time is more suitable.
  2. Self-Notes Making: This also should happen in single stretch. The two hours that you will be investing for notes modification, of the ones you had earlier prepared in class, make it a point to do in one go. And the ideal time to schedule self-notes making is right after learning.
  3. Practice: You need to divide practice time in two slots. You can choose the slot as per your convenience, but ensure it should be at least 3 hours in one slot. And have the slots in a gap so that you can practice better.
  4. Sleep: When it comes to sleep, the hours suggested should be covered in a single stretch. Never break your sleep. Single stretch sleep allows brain to function to its best capability.

Bonus Tip: Keep point 1 and 2 (Learning & Self-Notes Making) on the same day. Never procrastinate on this one.

These tips can help you design a proper schedule and while doing so, you should consider your body clock, the way your brain functions is crucial in determining the right study schedule. The routine you follow today will slowly turn into a habit and this will prove very beneficial when the final exam approach.
