The victors who have made the country proud by bagging 6 Medals (4 Gold Medals, 2 Silver Medals) for the nation at the 14th International Junior Science Olympiad,2017 reached Kota on 14th December, 2017 along with their parents and received a Grand Welcome .They were welcomed at the railway station by the honourable dignitaries of Allen Career Institute.
This is the first time that 6 students, all from a single Institute represented India Internationally and won gold and silver medals. Open Jeeps were decorated with flowers in the Victory Celebration to honour the hard work of the champions. Students and team members of Allen Institute were seen dancing during the celebration.
About 300 meritorious students aged upto 15 years, from 50 countries participated in IJSO-2017. India bagged third position whereas Russia bagged first and Taiwan second position. 6 students who represented India were from Allen Career Institute and they won 4 Gold and 2 Silver Medals. Mudita Goyal, Akhil Jain, Subarno Nath Roy and Kunal Samanta won gold medal whereas Niyati Mehta and Aadarshraj Sah bagged silver and brought glory to the nation. All of them are currently studying in 10th standard and were in class 9th when they gave the exam of IJSO-2017.
Champions expressed their wish to meet the Prime Minister. They said the Olympic winners are honoured and awarded. Science Olympiad is similar to Olympics of academics; we should also be honoured by central and state government.
Winner of Gold Medal, Mudita Goyal said that everything was new for her, as this was the first time that she visited foreign country. She added that she was very excited and going away from home without a phone was a big thing for her. They were assigned mentors who guided them throughout. The mentors even guided them about the food as she is a vegetarian and mostly non vegetarian food was available in Netherlands. There were also many girl participants among the students from 50 countries. Team members of Bolivia included all the girl candidates. She also said the credit for her victory goes to Allen Career Institute.
Akhil Jain, Gold medallist further added that, “We got an opportunity to meet meritorious students from different countries. All of them were well prepared for the completion also our preparation was better than the other teams. Theory and MCQ were easy whereas the practical part was tough. Allen career Institute and HBCSE has helped us to prepare for the competition. This year’s theme was ‘Water and Sustainability’. It was very overwhelmed to see that the students from different countries respected India. We interacted and exchanged thoughts of our countries. They wanted to visit Taj Mahal and also loved Indian Music. We became friends and it was hard to bid them goodbye. My aim is to become an engineer and IAS in future”.
Aadarshraj Sah said “Allen Career Institute has helped me to achieve my dream. I came Kota with an aim to achieve IJSO and teachers of Allen Institute guided me for it. My elder brother Yashraj has also helped me to attain the goal. In Netherlands, we played football with students from different countries and also enjoyed snowfall. My aim is to become an engineer.
