Highest Number of Students Appeared in JEE-Main 2024 in the History of NTA

14 Lakh 15 Thousand 110 Students Participated

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the JEE-Main 2024 examination in the months of January and April. In the month of January the examination was held between 24th January to 1st February and in the month of April between 4th to 9th April. All India Rank of students was released on the basis of highest NTA score of both the exams.

This year, 14 lakh 15 thousand 110 students appeared in JEE-Main 2024 in both the sessions together, whereas last year 11 lakh 12 thousand students had appeared for the examination. This is almost three lakh more than last year. This number is the highest in the records of NTA in JEE-Main.

This year, a total of 14 lakh 76 thousand 557 unique candidates registered for JEE-Main, out of which 14 lakh 15 thousand 110 students appeared for the exam. Of these, 9 lakh 24 thousand 636 students registered in both the sessions, and 8 lakh 22 thousand 899 students appeared in the examinations of both the sessions.

11 lakh 70 thousand 48 students appeared for the examination in January session and 10 lakh 67 thousand 959 students appeared for the examination in April session.

Percentile Eligibility for Taking JEE Advanced 2024

2.5 lakh students, who were selected on the basis of JEE-Main 2024, qualified for the JEE Advanced examination, in which 1 lakh 1 thousand 324 students were qualified from General category, 25029 from EWS, 67570 from OBC, 37581 from SC and 18780 from ST. In 7 decimal places, the percentile cutoff of General category was 93.2362181, EWS was 81.3266412, OBC was 79.6757881, SC was 60.0923182, ST was 46.6975840.

56 Students Got 100 Percentile

The Paper 1 (B.E-B.Tech) examination was conducted in a total of 20 shifts in both the sessions of JEE-Main, in which 23 students scored 100 percentile in 10 shifts in January. After this, in the April session examination, 33 students scored 100 percentile in a total of 10 shifts. In this situation, a total of 56 students scored 100 percentile.

79 Students Are State Wise Topper

State-wise topper list has also been released in JEE-Main 2024 result which includes 79 students. The state-wise Topper list includes 1 from Andaman and Nicobar, 7 from Andhra Pradesh, 1 student each from Arunachal, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Dadar Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Goa, Kerala, Ladakh, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Himachal, Jammu, Jharkhand, Odisha, Puducherry, Sikkim, Tripura, West Bengal, 6 from Delhi, 2 each from Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab, 3 from Karnataka, 7 from Maharashtra, 5 from Rajasthan, and 19 students from Telangana. Along with this, the list of category wise toppers was also released.

Which NITs Available on Which AIR – IIIT

Students whose AIR is less than 5000 will have the possibility of getting the core branch of top 5 NITs including NIT Trichy, Warangal, Suratkal, Allahabad, Jaipur and IIIT Allahabad. Students whose All India Rank will be between 5 to 10 thousand are likely to get core branch in NITs like Calicut, Surat, Nagpur, Bhopal, Kurukshetra, and Rourkela, in addition to other branches of the above mentioned top 5 NITs.

Students whose AIR is likely to be between 10 to 20 thousand can get admission in core branch in NITs like Jalandhar, Jamshedpur, Delhi, Goa, Agartala, Hamirpur, Durgapur as well as IIIT Gwalior, Jabalpur, Guwahati, Lucknow, and PEC Chandigarh. There will be a possibility of getting core branch in BITS MESRA, IIEST Shibpur, JNU, Hyderabad University.

Students whose All India Rank is between 20 to 30 thousand can get admission in core branches of NITs like Patna, Raipur, Silchar, Uttarakhand, Srinagar, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh along with other branches of top 10 NITs as well as new IIITs like Tirchi, Nagpur, Pune, Surat, Bhopal, Vadodara, and Ranchi, etc.

Also, students with 30 to 60 thousand All India Rank, apart from the core branches of top 20 NITs, can get admission in other branches and core branches of NITs of North East like Sikkim, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram along with the new IIITs like Ranchi, Dharwad, Kalyani, Kurnool, Chittur, Naya Raipur, Manipur Una, Kottayam and GFTI. The chances of getting a college on this given AIR may change for General, OBC, EWS, SC-ST students as per category.

Criteria for Determining AIR After Tie in NTA Score

For the first time this year, in case of tie in the higher NTA scores of students, 9 criteria have been set for determining the rank, in which if the total NTA scores of two students are equal, then NTA score of Mathematics will be considered first in determining the All India Rank. If it is equal then NTA score of Physics, followed by Chemistry will be considered first and, then the ratio of number of right and wrong answers is seen.

In this situation, if there is a tie, the ratio of the number of correct and wrong answers of Mathematics subject wise will be seen, here also the ratio of the number of right and wrong answers of Physics is taken into account, if there is a tie, the ratio of the number of right and wrong answers of Chemistry, will be seen.

If there is also a tie in all the above mentioned parameters also, then the aspirant who is elder will be given priority in according him AIR Rank. If there is a tie in the age then the priority will be given to the application number.
